I make over $6,000 in Adsense income per month, but I'm an Amazon affiliate newb...

Hi everyone

My main source of income is currently coming from Adsense (a part from some smaller affiliate sales).

I've been intrigued by the figures some of the members are doing with the Amazon affiliate program and I'm looking for some guidance.

I think I may be able to leverage my existing traffic and current mailing lists (growing stronger everyday) towards some Amazon affiliate income.

Any suggestions and/or techniques would be appreciated. I'm also going to purchase some Amazon affiliate WSOs, so if anyone has a suggestion for a great WSO please let me know.

Thanks in advance.....and hopefully I can post my progress here as I get further into the experiment.

Cheers

Phil

Well the easiest way to get into it would be to just add links to relevant Amazon products into your currently existing content.

If any of your content is product-related, just take the product names in the articles you have and turn them into links to the product on Amazon.

Even if your articles aren't product-related, you could still probably write a new paragraph here and there into the top or bottom of your articles, or just write a few sentences that transitions into something about a product on Amazon and then include the link.

Ya, I guess that's the obvious approach, however I've heard Amazon affiliate conversion on simple placement is really low.

      Thoughts?

If you have some sites related to products $50+ I would add some text links in the content and perhaps a more visible at the bottom of the content "Click here for the best prices on XXXXXX at Amazon.com" or similar.

Conversion rates depend heavily on the niche and the keywords which people use to find your site.

If you have pages ranking for "Best KEYWORD" or "KEYWORD Review" you could add a heading at the bottom of your content "Best KEYWORD's" or "Top KEYWORD's for 2012" with a brief review and picture linking to Amazon.

Perhaps try it out on a couple of sites and see how your earnings compare to adsense.

    Good luck.

Your best bet is to create an authority site around a specific niche and then target specific products that you know you can rank for. With this strategy, I do exceptionally well as an Amazon affiliate and I don't even have to build backlinks outside of social bookmarking each new post to a handful of sites.

            Hey guys

Been working on promoting my amazon affiliate ads and this weekend I received credit for 7 orders.

The problem is I don't see any earnings calculation.

It looks like the orders were not the products I was promoting. Do I not get some credit for those orders?

            Can anyone provide some insight?

            Thanks

I know you haven't been banned from adsense and are just looking to diversify your income but with so many people being banned recently, alot of people are having success just putting amazon on some of there more product centric sites are doing better with amazon than they are with adsense.

You get credit on shipment not purchase and it takes 2 months to clear.

If you have information sites you can add links to amazon books if there are any. If you create a new site make sure to have good reviews and complimentary articles so its not just a doorway type of site. Having good reviews will tend to make the sale since amazon is about last click through.

The big changes (discussed here a little bit Best Adsense day ever $2,255 – See How I Did It….. | My Online Success Diary) were:

              • Focused heavily on longer articles with more value for visitors
              • Developed relationships with other webmasters and leveraged their visitors and/or lists (it helps if you can also provide something in returns)
              • Really tried to focus on Facebook and twitter. Especially using Facebook pages to develop communities of like minded members that helped share the content
              • I also increased by monthly budget for outsourcing of content and promotion for the sites
              Cheers

To be honest I really don't like to be this undiversified. I really need to diversify my income base. For example I like how Pat Flynn has a wide variety of income sources to pull from...something to attain to I guess...

      Hi Options

First, I want to say, love your signature profile picture...best TV of all time!!!

I actually have a custom theme I created, but I recently purchased (a few months ago) CTR theme and it's producing similar CTR results.

However, in my experience CTR has a lot to do with the type of visitors and the niche you're promoting. Some niches don't result in profitable CTR rates.

      What theme are you using?

Yeah you cant beat david brent can you.... thanks...

I use CTR Theme also, i am a bit worried because i am going for some competitve keywords in the loan niche, Do you think this theme will stand the test with competitive niches?

Rather than going for a mirco niche site i would like to add lots of content and make the site/s hundreds of pages.

Downloaded your ebook, some good points.

Thanks for downloading the eBook and thanks for the kind words.

I do agree with you. I'm also focusing more on bigger authority sites going forward rather than smaller niche sites. I think the bigger sites have much more staying power...just more difficult to build.

However I'll keep my current niche sites as they are performing quite well recently.

I make more money with Google Adsense then I do with the Amazon Affiliate program. They are both good and have their unique advantages.

I only use Amazon when I recommend a specific product that can be purchased from them. That tends to be the best method in my opinion.

Amazon conversion rates are a bit tricky. I average about 7% from my review sites. But most of those sales are not from the products reviewed, but related (and totally unrelated) products.

I too am a content marketer. Adsense is very kind and a nice revenue stream. I introduced Amazon sales widgets throughout appropriate posts and saw income being generated from amazon sales in the first day. The simple thing is, if you have a high Adsense earning, let's say over $100 a day, then you have the traffic that can support the Amazon widgets. I write content around the theme of the Amazon product and place a sales widget second last paragraph of the post. It seems to be working quite well.

First things first, since you are new to amazon you are going to need an in-depth information. Get hold of Gaz Cooper's amazon PDF, there is both the free and paid version. It's really an eye opener.

With your current experience with ranking your adsense site, you will be able to deliver targeted traffic to your site. You can also contemplate having an autoresponder on your home page, this will avail you the opportunity to send new release product offers to your list and make quick money.

You can also make use of video to promote your product hands down.

    Hey Phil

Welcome to the JAFFA club

First, take a deep breath, adsense and amazon affs are 2 different beasts!

Would suggest you take 50% of the profit, of your 6k a month, lets say 20% for a guide, $1200 and put it ALL into a 3 month, long term, passive income project for AA, this is both clever and not using any monies that you did not have in the first place, as you are only spending "profit income" on the idea.

    All you need is:

    1) Blazing fast VPS with multiple C block IP swap out
    2) Some on line & offline local lead & niche softs
    3) A super Amazon Aff WP plugin
    4) Some decent, non spammy, G zoo safe backlinks
    5) A WP mentor
    6) Lots & lots of social traffic
    7) Alternative payment processors
    8) A good accountant

Put those in your plan of action, work them 2 hours a day, 7 days a week, for a month... Ker Ching!

Hope you do not mind the "no fluff" approach, works for all our VAteam clients and down lines

      5) A WP mentor
      6) Lots & lots of social traffic
      7) Alternative payment processors
      8) A good accountant

Put those in your plan of action, work them 2 hours a day, 7 days a week, for a month... Ker Ching!

Hope you do not mind the "no fluff" approach, works for all our VAteam clients and down lines
Not sure if all that made sense....let me "chew" on it for a little...may have some questions....

Is a fast VPS really necessary? What type of traffic are you attracting?

Start off with what you can afford but keep up scaling - just don't bite off more than you can afford

Ok, so to date I've made $12.....I don't think my approach is working.

I think I'll have to get my visitors more targeted.

          I'll keep working on it...

      Hi daddykool,
Are you talking about being a seller in Amazon rather then an associate ?

    Hi Phil,
If you are successful in Adsense, Amazon will be much easier..
just put up some good unique contents and select the right products and you will start earning with minimal traffic, unlike adsense

I've been trying to outline my strategy on my site (see below), but I've only managed to write 2 parts (part 3 should be coming soon).

      What's your strategy...?
