The meta keyword tag has become fairly worthless, particularly with Google, Yahoo and Bing. Other smaller search engines may still be using the meta keyword tag as an indicator of what the page is about.

Keywords are very important in article titles posted to your website. I wouldn't target more than two keywords per page or article but just make your content look natural and informative to readers and you will be fine.

Different search engine have different policy if we do SEO by only targeting Google then meta keyword is not useful and if we do SEO for yahoo and Bing it can be effective.

Google dose not look at Meta-Keywords (as was clearly stated by Matt Cutts). Other SE and information gathering tools might use Keywords Meta. It dosen`t "hurts" you to have them but don`t waste time on them.

I would suggest a long "all in one" keyword list that will be true for all pages on site.

I wouldn't use exactly same meta keywords in every page of your site. Even though meta keywords normally don't harm your site, having same keywords in every page will certainly cause "red flags" in search engines.

Yeah, keyword meta was important before google or yahoo and bing, too. They became pretty much useless now. I hope that helped you in a way or so.

I still use them and especially for individual page keywords. I try not to have more than 10 if possible. Google ranks pages, so individual page title tags are extremely important.

I also limit pages to only 1 or 2 keywords and build additional pages as I need them for new keywords.

Don't use them. No major search engine reads them. There's no sense in adding them "just in case" - that's just making your HTML bloated and site loading time is an important factor these days.

Meta keywords is not that important anymore though if you want your page/site to follow the SEO standard, you can still still use it. Besides, it won't harm your website as long as you put only relevant keywords.

metatags do not affect search engine rankings in Google. Using it or not, makes no difference, there is no harm or advantage, per say... However, i would rather choose to not use them as your competitors could easily take a look at those pages and see what your target keywords are... why give away a hard earned keyword research to your competitor for free?

meta keyword tags are only used to notify your prior keywords to search engines so they are always useful if you use them in a correct manner, sometimes they also effect the density of page.so better you have different pages for different keywords and then having different keyword tags

Meta keywords tag is no longer important for Google because webmasters have abused its usage. But, I am sure you are not optimizing your website for Google only, so you need to include them in your page for good ranking in other search engines.

META Keywords used to be all of the rage back in the day. It was a way to suggest to the search engines what your page is trying to rank for, or essentially, what your page is about. Over the years, Google and Yahoo announced that they are not paying attention to META keywords anymore, and many people stopped using them all together. However, some people still continued to use META keywords. Those who used it were mocked because they were essentially telling their competition what keywords they want to rank for, and what keywords are important to them.

However, with Bing being the new kid on the SEO block, they are now announcing that they are in fact using the META keywords to rank pages. Since Yahoo search is now powered by Bing, Yahoo search is using META keywords as well.

So if you are not using META keywords, I would suggest you start. Bing might not be a big player yet, but don't rule them out. Plus, they still have a lot of traffic, even if it is less than Google's. You still want to capitalize on that.
