How much is a genuine PR8 domain site worth? I have just grabbed a .. what seems to be legit site, done the info:domain.com tricks and dosen't appear to be any redirect scam.

So my question is, what could I sell the site for? It dosen't have much content, and not very aged at all. This considered, it must be worth something?

Also what could I sell links for each on a PR8?

Does it have any content? If not, it could lose that pr soon. Basically, a site to me is worth the revenue it makes. I wouldn't pay anything for pagerank alone.

Yea I do agree. But this isn't an expired domain, but a small site that was selling on auction. Basically.. I don't think the owner realised it had a PR8, and the auction had only 20 views, so I decided to buy it for $10.

The site has 150+ back links to it, 5 pages, and use to be a forum sometime ago (years ago).

For $10 you can't go wrong even if it turns out the pagerank is fake. If it's real, that was a good buy. Not sure what the going rate for links are on a pr8, but find out and monetize it.

Not to be Debbie Downer, but I highly doubt anyone who owns a PR8 site doesn't realize they own a PR8 site. I suspect that the PR has been faked but hey, you got it for ten bucks. No real loss.

This. Just PR alone means squat. How much unique content does the site have on it? How much traffic is the site getting per day? How much revenue per month is the site generating? All of these elements play a vital factor

I agree. What kind of traffic does the site have? What is it already ranking for? Are they money terms? Also, what is the history of the domain? Did someone do some under handed work to get the domain devalued and it has not been reflected in the page rank yet?

Either way, you got it for ten dollars. I just wouldn't invest to much in it until I answered the right questions.

If the domain is redirected to a PR8 domain it will hold PR8 when checked. Sometimes it will hold it until the next PR update. Sometimes it drops to 0 a few days after the redirect is stopped. That is what you have to watch out for.

Maybe I'm missing something but I don't understand the responses in this post. If the pr is real and has decent baclinks you could Probably sell it to someone right here on the warrior forum for hundreds if not thousands that's regardless of traffic, content or whether it's making income..people buy these sites and getting a real pr8 has value. Post your question in the SEO section here on the warrior forum for some guidance...they seek high pr over there.

I've spent the last 59 months building 412 MFA sites. Each site averages 8 cents per day...I said average, some make up to 17 cents per day, PASSIVE INCOME! This income allows me to live comfortably and buy ANY flavor Jolly Rancher or Skittles I desire. Don't give in to fear, it CAN be done!

Because there are a couple of red flags

      1. No one would sell a real PR8 site for $10 (in their right mind)
      2. Fake PR sites are selling like hotcakes right now
      3. If you had your choice between a site that makes money as opposed to a
site with just high pagerank, which would you choose?

One way to try to determine if a redirect was used to get that Pagerank is do a site:domain.com search in Google and look at the results. Do the results actually go to the site you are searching for, or do they go to a site with real Pagerank 8? You can also look at the cache to see if the cached version is the same site or a site with real Pagerank 8.

It sounds like you got a good deal. Certainly worth more than what you paid for it. Monetizing it will make it worth even more. Good luck with your site.

Thanks Yes I am going to add some more articles to it, put a new design on, try and monetize it quick, and then sell it.

        1. I believe 90% of people with websites have no idea what page rank is. Only a few sub groups worry about pagerank...so yeah people let them go not knowing what they have.

        2. You ain't lying, I've seen it

        3. depends on what I was trying to do...of course money is the goal but I'm not gonna turn down a pr8 just cause it isn't making money...a pr8 is nothing but a big block of money anyway...blog networks would pay well for one.

And i love your avatar, if I had to rank it I would say it's around a pr8

LOL. Yes I agree with most of what you say. Many webmasters don't even realise what pagerank is. So they might have a PR10 for all they know and didn't realise!

The effort required to get a PR8 site is so great that it is extremely unlikely that the owner will let it expire or sell it at a low price even it they do not what the pagerank of their site is. I have only seen it once or twice with genuine PR8 sites. One was buyusa.com that was owned by the US Department of Commerce and they just didn't care.

Both the markets for domains with PR and the link trading market are now in complete turmoil because of this Google loophole.

$10 for a PR 8 domain. I highly doubt it mate.

There are chances that it might be a fake PR. And if not (you'll get to know after another PR update), then you are one lucky champ.

You could also use checkpagerank.net and it will tell you if the page rank is real or not. Do your research, download seo spyglass to check the backlinks report for the site as well. You won't lose your page rank right away as long as you add content. It takes a while before you start to lose page rank right away, i have a couple of sites that i have bought that were expiring from godaddy auctions and never had a problem w/losing pagerank. But you do have to do a little bit of research on your end.

As it is PR8 site, You can immediately sell some unique blog post too. But try to add more content with less affiliate links will make you more money.

If it is a newly registered domain, there is no chance it can become a real PR8 on the first update. The domain will be returned correctly on a info: command. You will not be able to detect whether it was re-directed before either. The market is completely flooded with these type of domains and link traders are well aware of them and are rejecting these domains on bulk. A valid PR8 domain should have thousands of other domains pointing links back to it. One tool to use is

Ebay.com, Target, and Walmart.com are PR 7 sites. Wellsfargo.com, Bankofamerica.com, ESPN.com, and MSN.com are PR 8 sites. I would bet my left nut this is not a PR 8 site.

What about the backlinks? You haven't mentioned anything about the backlinks.

It's all about the backlinks when it comes to buying and selling domains for their PR. If it has no backlinks or very few that are unranked or low PR, I guarantee it is a fake PR.

Also, the little info:domain.com trick doesn't work anymore and hasn't for quite some time. Any scammer with half a brain knows to remove the redirect and wait for Google to recache before selling.

Either way, you still have a big red flag here:

Really? You can't think of any reason to buy it for more than $500? If it was a legit PR 8, you could add a zero onto the end of that number.

With content? For a PR 8, who gives a crap about the content?

This, of course, is likely not a real PR 8, so all of these points are moot, but I don't know where you people come up with this crap.
