Hi everyone,

Is it okay to rank for a domain name like example.wordpress.com instead of "example.com"

And what if it's for a keyword that's easy to rank for.

Sure it's ok, but it's better to rank a site you own and have total control over, rather than one that wordpress or blogger can delete anytime they feel like it.

    Blogspot domains are good for seo because they have an unbelivable amount of domain authority. Google are looking at this more and more instead of pagerank authority. The only problem is, it's not brandable and hard to transfer your site if you want to but it's great if you're throwing up a few adsense websites. You can even go after tough keywords with these domains;

    Google

Check the traffic of the top site, a blogspot domain, over 2,000,000 unique vistors every month, must be close to 4.5 million pageviews. It's hardly got any links but loads of domain authority due to the huge amount of links to blogspot.com

That's true but I just want to make an adsense website out of it.

That's a great example, thank you for sharing.

What do you mean "a huge amount of links to blogspot.com" ? Is he building backlinks to other blogspot website or it's because blogspot is an authority domain so they rank easily.

According to backlinkwatch.com, they have about 7,800 backlinks

Blogspot is in the top 10 visited domains in the world.

The cheap tools won't give you accurate results. Blogger has 18,000,000 direct links and over 680,000,000 links to other blogspot domains, this is what gives the domain it's domain authority.

I would suggest trying it, but you will be hard pushed to find an exact match name on Blogger, now... but with high quality content, a few high quality relevant links it should be easier to rank.

There are people saying why are Google properties outranking our sites?, but this is why, there is no manual action involved, it's just because they are leaning towards domain authority. There are some also such as Rand at Seomoz who think it's a bad idea using a Blogspot, but he couldn't be further from the truth.

Why would this be any different than the articlebase model. Copy paste and w00w a link, which can be deleted in a second. In most cases people just delete it and voila.

If they made it (but they cant) so that you couldnt erase the link, now that would be something worth digging into.

    Just my thoughts..

    Sincerely, Buyseech

Creating your Blogspot blog correctly could be the difference between ranking highly in the search engines and having to struggle to get any traffic at all. When your blog ranks highly in the search engines, it can receive large amounts of traffic without the author having to pay for advertising. By paying attention to a few factors when setting up your blog, it can begin to rank higher and get more traffic.

    - Focus on the Title
    - Get Inbound Links
    - Create Unique Content
    - Use Meta Descriptions

Blogger Blogs does better when it comes with Rankings on Google when done properly well. Also i have seen many people always dishing out Making use of a Blogger Blog with the mindset that your blog can just get dropped anytime.

This assertion isn't all true, If You do what's right and follow simple terms 'which every other sites online also provides such terms which if you violate you also face the penalty' you will sure have your blog running for as long as you want it to.

      Thanks.

      • You can get high rankings for a Blogger or WordPress as long as you follow the same rules that apply for to traditional websites. Write unique content frequently, build relevant links, and promote your posts on social media and social bookmarking sites. If your site stands out of the crowd and provides valuable information, it will rank high in search engines and get quality traffic.

Never go for a free domain at wordpress. that can be banned or blocked by wordpress any time. But when you have your own domain name you have complete freedom to work on it. To introduce easy and seo friendly features of wordpress in your website you can create wordpress based website by installing it in your web server.

Always go for blogspot instead of wordpress. I never saw any wordpress.com coming up in search results. And yes its always easy to rank a keyword if you have example.com. If you can't afford to have one, go with blogger.
