Which Is Best, A Blog Or Regular Website For Adsense Site?

It's a matter of opinion but I prefer WordPress. Very easy to SEO, easy to install, & a great Adsense plug-in. Just have to modify the header, footer, theme, etc.

A blog would be alot easier to set up...so I might suggest that.
It all depends how much traffic you send there.
If you send 1000 visitors to a website than you'll make more money.
If you send 100 visitors to a blog you'll make less money.
Try setting up a blogger blog if it's your first blog

I suggest you to use blogger.com. It is the the easiest plotform for buidling adense websites on the fly. I alwasy get higher click throguh rate with blogger blogs. I use the default template in this blog.

I prefer Wordpress blogs because they are much easier to setup as compared to websites. For newbies certainly Wordpress, but as you get more experienced and comfortable online you can try out a regular website. It is all preference.

Personally, I prefer wordpress with own hosting. It's easy to create and installa all the plugin. What you need to do is just key in your publisher id.

I don't like to use blogger(xxx.blogspot.com). Though it is also simple to show your adsense ads by adding adsense gadget, you'll have to share the click revenue with blogspot. Unless, you copy the ads code from adsense and paste into the text area of gadget.

Another reason is, I can schedule the post to to posted automatically in the future. The only thing you must remember to do is install MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer plugin. Then, it'll only ping when the post in post on scheduled date, not both the date you write and the day it posted.

If you are thinking create mutiple site by using wordpress, try looking for hosting account that offer you unlimited mysql database. the baby plan from hostgator is good if you really want to focus on adsense as long term income generating machine.

If you use blogger.com, you may consider using your own domain name to forward to your blog there so if one day blogger change names or disppear, you do not risk losing all your traffics from backlinks. But here are two questions:

1) How G treats fowarded domain names and how will this affect SEO?
2) Anyone knows the payments from clicking ads served in blogger.com vs. ads served on your own hosting the same? I heard that ads served at blogger tends to pay less because G hosts blogger which makes sense.

So my opinion is, for serious internet marketers, host your own blog without forwarding. Wordpress is great.

BTW, what AdSense plug-in you use? I tried several but so far I still need to find a better one.

Hi,

In my own opinion, i prefer blog over a regular website, because blog has some quick features which you can use and adjust to feature your chosen niche.

And because it is easy to use and cost effective instead of regular site where you will need to purchase software and some expertise to create an appealling website.

So for a starter, blog is the solution while you now settle down to put up a good.

i think websites are good for adsense because even setup is different not as easy as a blog/wordpress etc websites have easier maintenance & i think they ahve a longer life than blogs so as a result the adsense works better.

Also as long as traffic (lots of traffic) is being sent to sites then this again makes websites better... i think.

One more thing regarding advantages using blog is, you have RSS feeds automatically generate for you. Rss reader can easily pull your contents so you can syndicate your contents more easily than regular web sites. Plus, G cares about how many users subscribed to your blog. G bought feedburner so you laways know how many users actullay read your posts in blog.

My opinion is, do both of them. Regular web sites give you full control but takes more time initially, blog provides easy setup and RSS feeds, which is useful in getting your posts to readers.

  I agree to that. I'd also add that it's easier to back up, it loads faster, it's easier on the web host, and as long as you know what makes up decent SEO - you'll do far better than what WP will muster.

  Just look at an RSS feed and you'll see the code of what makes it up. Put it into notepad, change out the obvious stuff (urls, information, name, date, etc) and save as .xml.

Would like blog because most of us are lazy, no offense including me. If you have time to create and maintain a web site that is good too. - You will have full control over almost anything but you have to maintain it yourself since you know your web site best.

There is a third choice, use some CMS(Content management system) like Joomla.

I think the theory is that blog visitors are less inclined to click on ads, but you can make a wordpress installation look like a regular site so the visitor would not feel he/she was on a "blog" and maybe click as if on a regular site

However, Word press does have tons of advantages as far as building and maintaining a website is concerned and the search engines, especially Google love them so you will get indexed faster.

I tried word press several years ago but did not fully understood it's awsome versatility so I continued using Dreamweaver, XsitePro, FrontPage and other site building tools. It was a nightmare trying to keep these sites up-to-date. About 2 years ago I gave Wordpress another go and only then did I realize how easy it was to master it, and how much power you can "plugin" into its core

I've also tried dozens of Content Management Systems/automated builders but abandoned them all because I did not have time to learn how to use them or maintain them.

If you are going to use Wordpresss I would advise using your own domain on your own server, then you can use blogs on blogger.com and wordpress.com to get backlinks to your own hosted wordpress site.

Truly, If you want to spend less time maintaining your site and more time earning money from it a Wordpress installation will give you that advantage everytime without doubt

If you don't have enouth informations, than you need to use a static website.

A blog is easier and quicker in some cases, but if you really do have a log of information, you need to think about organizing. A blog, even using categories and tags is not as easy to organize properly as you can with a a traditional site. Traditional sites can be static or a cms like joomla.

On the few sites I do have a blog, it's Blogger FTP'd to my own domain. No performance hit of a db, no security issues of wordpress, but I get easy content management, comments, etc.

You did a test of Wordpress V Joomla. I did not mention any CMS in particular. It may well be that the test you did proved Joomla did better.
I'm saying that wordpress blogs (or should i say sites) tends to get indexed faster that static sites.

Guys, in the end it's all the same: Pages Online

1. Just use whatever you are comfortable with,
2. Enables you to upload your content in a timely manner,
3. And gives you the layout flexibility you personally need.

For some this may be wordpress, for others Joomla, then some
prefer Drupal, I personally use XsitePro.

If you go with a standard HTML website, than I recommend you get an RSS feed created for your HTML content site, so that it can get the benefits that a blog gets from having RSS. My preference would be Wordpress, but it is up to you.

People hate to be advertised to and the main characteristic of a best Adsense blog is that that the ads do not really look like ads but more like extra links to click for more valuable information and tips.

It got tired of updating sites that were created by editors it was a time consuming task.

It was not until I understood the power of WP that I quickly converted all my sites over to WP. At this point things really took off with my affiliate earnings. Yes not just for blogging but can be used to create mini sites. One advantage a RSS feed ... I could go on about this.

I found that WP sites tend to stick around longer than traditional site and fewer problems with sandboxing!

I also forgot to mention. Once you create a site with WP and it is an SEO success you can often ftp those templates and plugins to another site providing it is the same or close enough version of WP.

Using this method if you have several good articles on hand you can create a several page website in less than an hour from domain registration to site creation. To tell you the truth I don't know why I did not go this route sooner.

At first, try to familiarize yourself on this online world. Your concepts and ideas will develop little by little. I started by writing blogs because at first, I was afraid to be tied up at domains and hosting expenses, etc.... but later on, the more you make money, the more you will be courage enough to try new things.

So, as of now, you can try writing blogs for familiarity purposes. The spiders (who will read your content) wants those sites with lots of contents.

Blogging and creating websites are different. But blogging is a great start if you really want to improve yourself on internet marketing. After all, the more you explore, the more you interact with people, the more ideas you will have, and the more money in your pocket. :-)

I used blogger when I just started. However, from what I have read from one of the e-books about SEO, Wordpress is owned by Google (if I remember it right, hah!) that's why, you can try Wordpress for better crawling of your contents to search engines.

I have static html sites as well as wordpress blogs. I find that with static sites they look nicer and more professional looking. Wordpress blogs however are so easy to maintain they can literally run on auto-pilot. This may sound good but they make me lazy at times because I tend to leave them as is when I should be doing more. My static sites on the other hand - the pages are well seo'd and optimised so they tend to rank better.

Wordpress with personal hosted domain works better. Pure and Simple.

Internet business is about working smart and that should be at the back of everyone's mind.

Updating and maintaining site is a real issue here. Somtimes, you may loose your files to crashed computer and even backups. When you are out of your station, you may not still have your site with to update also.

With blog, you will be able to update at any time, anywhere so long as you have access to Internet connection. What is important in terms of earning well with adsense is content, niche and traffic with good seo.

No matter what type of site you have, you can rank good in SERPs.

No type of site is preferred over the other type.

But I personally prefer to have wordpress blogs as it is easy to manage, add content etc.

Horses for courses - possibly blogs for newbies - and websites for technies! But this also depends on subject and personal preference! So truthfully either/or. Personally I would experiment with both and see which gives best results in your particular niche. You can make good money with both but I would suggest you view adsense as a bonus and find other ways to monetize your sites.

I have to agree with the bulk of the posters here - a WordPress blog is the very best way to go. Here is why I feel this way:

1. you own it - a blogger blog can be shut down for any reason.
2. they are easy to administer and customize.
3. a WP blog can be optimized for SEO by adding the proper plugins that do the bulk of the work.
4. using such FireFox extensions as Scribefire, you can post from anywhere on the web.
5. MS Office 2007 allows you to blog directly from the platform.

Using WP, IMHO, is the best advantage a beginning marketer has. I have increased my income two-fold by using WP strictly in all my marketing efforts. The WP blog is dynamic, and requires so little to add content, all the way from images to video. I won't use anything else.

No matter which you use (blog vs web pages) you will have to provide the visitors some reason to come back. That usually mean tons of content.

Blogs seem to get traffic a little easier, but either needs to be built up over time.

WP is hard to beat! even if you have experience building sites, WP can and will enable you to get a very nice looking to amazing looking site up and running with little sweat (at least compared to making a multi-page site by hand!)

the search engines seem to love WP (even more after some of the seo-plugs are installed),
with the wealth of add-ons that are available now? the functions that you can add to your WP site are not just amazing, but can be installed in minutes. adding some of the functions that some WP plug-ins add to a manually generated site would take many hours to many many hours...or even impossible.

so unless I really really need to build a site by hand? WPress is a first choice, followed by Joomla and CPG-Nuke (if I need some of their unique abilities)

I tend to get higher paying clicks on my websites. Also, notice that most blogs link to authority sites, not authority blogs. When you go for news CNN, BBC, FOX, WSJ, etc these are all sites.

Go on Google News and see all the results, again most are authority websites, few blogs. That said I will usually break a story on one of my websites, and cover it in depth on several of my blogs.

Google like blogs because they tend to have fresh content everyday, but that content goes stale after a while. I notice that I will rank high in the search engines for a few days with a blog for a new story, but a year later the top position will be held by one of my websites.

Use a combination of both for the best results. To get people to link to you it is best to have an authority website, not a blog. Also, links from websites tend to carry more weight and are not discounted after a few months. A blog gets lots of traffic for a new story, but old news quickly loses relevance so a blog is great for new tech, whereas a website is better for a how to site.

Google likes blogs - another good reason! Tags and categories, google sitemap - all help with google. Use ALL IN ONE SEO Pack for instant SEO. Use an extended ping list to notify lots of sites and search engines.

I think that using content from other authors (giving them the proper credit, with a resource box), and making money off of adsense is a great way, and you can do it all for free at blogger.com.

Great way to start, and earn long term money (though you probably won't retire off of the income, but you may be able to make enough for a car payment!).

I use Joomla for static sites AND blogs. You can configure it to be either. Use Feedburner for Ping. Great Adsense modules, all SEO'd with SEO friendly URL's. Some really proffesional templates as well.

It's a while since your post... but by now you migh already know that one of the best tactics is to have several sites (blogs) on two or three different hosts. When you cross reference your sites Google will rank you way up there. If you can find someone ....ANYONE... who has a .edu or .gov file extensionand draw them into a conversation on a blog... you will have hit pure gold! Use your keywords in you conversation with them and watch your site rocket! I took one site from an Alexa rank of 12 million!!! to just over 150,000 in a month doing this. And I have three of the top 10 spogs on google for my wife's canine musical freestyle site. Actually.. I have the top two and then another at around 6 or 7.

It is good advice building a network of sites to boost rankings using certain linking techniques. Just make sure the domains are not on the same IP.

Other things I noticed thorough out this thread that I forgot.

When I was on vacation I liked being able to update sites and make changes where an internet connection was available. A CMS or WP will allow you to do that.

For WP there is a backup plugin I am sure other CMS do too.

As far as indexing ... love a RSS feed does not matter if it is Joomla or Wordpress or one created from a static hand created paged it is easy to get indexed in a few days and see keyword related traffic coming in.

After using html editors, Joomla, and drupal for ease of use and SEO reasons if creating a blog or mini site I would WP.

I prefer a regular site for traffic behavior, but I also have blogs to support the sites.

According to an April 3, 2008 article at Google Analytics 101, "Bounce Rate is the percentage of visitors who left your site after only seeing one page. For most sites, a high Bounce Rate is bad since people are arriving, taking a quick look around, and leaving immediately. Either the site isn't useful or they're turned off by something. By monitoring your Bounce Rate over time, you can optimize your landing pages and then check to see if your changes worked - a lower rate means people like what you've done with the place. Bounce Rate is best used to compare different sets of your own data. Websites and industries vary too greatly for us to give you here a set number on what a healthy Bounce Rate is. For example, blogs usually have high Bounce Rates no matter what since normal visitor behavior is to read the newest post and then leave.

Bounce rate is a funny thing. If you have a one page landing site guess what ....

If you have a site with highly targeted pages but great conversions you may have a high bounce rate.

You could have a multipage affiliate site in a relatively low competition niche that is so darn confusing that nobody can find anything so they search several pages hoping to find something because they have few other sites or options and they find nothing conversions suck ... and you have a great low bounce rate.

Low bounce rate does not really indicate quality of site or if people stuck around because they liked it. In the case of a blog if the material is well liked on the landing page chances are the blog will have a lower bounce rate.

I used Word press because it is so easy to install first of all. Second, I can change the background very easily by finding a WordPress theme and replacing the picture with one of my own. WordPress is also easy to use in that there are many plug-ins that you can install onto the blog. These plug-ins can do almost anything for you.

if you want it to make it special use wordpress, if you want to be simply use blogger. When it comes to revenue I think it would depend on how you optimize your site content.

I prefer blog for wordpress with own hosting. It's easy to create and install all the plug-ins and very easy on SEO too. Once you setup your blog sign up for adsense and then start creating ads from there and paste it on your blog to start earning thru adsense. Good Luck!

I suggest you use blogger.com. It is easier for plotform thickens and search sites on the fly. Whenever I have a higher click throguh blogger blogs. I use the default template in this blog.

i Had used WP but have switched to static sites. the main reasons are:
- faster setup
- easier to move if I sell it
- no botched plugin installations

I don't think the type of site matters for an adsense site, but rather the MARKET you are building a site in.

I have a static XSP site in adsense making 20 to 40 a day.

I just put adsense on it because my previous offer was pulled! It turns out that I was in a high paying market so it's not too bad!

I used to develop my web sites with combination of PhotoShop, DreamWeaver, MySQL, Eclipse and a hired HTML slicer, but that is way too complicated for SEO and affiliate marketing. You really loose a ton of time on development, when you should concentrate on links and fresh content.

I would recommend a combination of WordPress and Artisteer. Artisteer lets you make blog templates in under 10-15 minutes. You can make so many eye candy variations, so quickly, that you have to hold yourself from getting carried away, with design side of things. Small downside is that you still need to understand some basic HTML in order to plug in Google AdSense. A good site to pick up HTML knowledge is W3schools.

You can create anyone of them it would not matter much.Creating a blog would make it cache and ranked soon while creating a website would take some time.In the long run, you would have complete control over your website while you cannot do so in your blog..so the choice is yours?As far as adsense is concerned it would work fine on both.

Blog is easier and you can do it own your own without any coding experience. Wordpress i tried and tested for a long long time, only you can mess it up. Its childs play actually. But a HTML website could be a headache and obviously it will consume more of your time than the mighty and simple Wordpress.

I prefer the Wordpress blogs because they are much easier to link to websites. For beginners probably Wordpress, but as you become more experienced and comfortable online, you can try a common website. It's all preference.

Still anyone believes there is a "difference" between a blog and a website?

Its really only in the eyes of the beholder, but a BLOG (that's how see it) is is usually a site with "web2.0 features" like RSS feeds pings etc. while a static site like a sales page/squeeze page doesnt have those features.

As for "blog" like in "blogging"...this does NOT mean that a wordpress site must be a "blog" with your personally blahblah on it. Its entirely optional. A wordpress site can very well be a sales page or squeeze page, and does not need to have dynamic changing content, and it does not need to contain personal "blogging style" blah blah.

So i really never make a difference between a "blog" and a "website", i simply use Wordpress for everything.

Why? Because of the above reasons, and the features like rss feeds, auto pings/trackbacks, free plugins for ANYTHING you could even need...makes it rank way better in the search engines and integrate better into "web2.0" (whatever that is)
