Anyone here have any success stories at all from answering questions on Yahoo Answers?

The links that you can put in once you've reach "level 2" are no-follow, but I was just considering this as a possible option for some targeted traffic.

Think this is even worth my time?

I used to make over $100 a month on Yahoo Answers promoting zip and email submits. You can get some traffic from it, and I have even made some affiliate conversions from it. I usually get from 0 - 20 visitors per answer (it all depends on the niche and the question).

I now use it for research.

I started with Yahoo Answers a few weeks ago. I am level 2 so just have my links in my profile. I have found that I am getting a lot of traffic from it. Also this traffic stays on my page for a while too. This lets me think they are reading my posts which is what I want. I have set up some saved searches and will try to answer a few questions each day.

Your success will depend a lot on what niche and demographics you are targeting. The majority of users of Y Answers are teen/tween/twenties age. So, like a previous warrior mentioned, directing users to free CPA offers on your site would probably be worth while, while recommending a physical product or e-book not so much.

Be careful with YAhoo answers, make your answers legitimiate;no spam. People will report you in a heartbeat if your answer seems to or even resembles spam. It is very well moderated. But the traffic you will get from it will def help your conversions as well as your Alexa ranking.

i'd say its the best way to generate some traffic. never mind if the links are no follow, they will still be of some worth (atleast they will help in creating good link mixture along with do follow links, if you have any).

Yahoo answer is not about nofollow or dofollow. Its a way to get huge traffic. Just you need to answer niche related questions.

I've been using Y!A pretty steadily for about the past 10 months and it generates both a steady stream of visitors and income for me. As others have said, don't do it for the backlinks, but the traffic you get can be good quality traffic.

A couple of things I've picked up along the way are that have helped include:

+ After you post an answer, be sure to go back and vote for your answer as the best once it's in voting. Sometimes just that 1 vote is enough to get it chosen (by voters) as the best answer. If the asker doesn't select a best answer, the answer with the most votes automatically "wins" after 4 or 5 days.

+ Voting on other answered questions that aren't resolved yet is a great way to get your point total up, especially in the beginning. You get 1 point for voting on the best answer for a question. I think even at the lower levels, you can get ~100 points a day by going to the "In Voting" section and choosing best answer. It's helps get you to a higher level quicker.

+ Using the advanced search box helps you find open questions with your keywords with fewer answers. Less competition can improve your chances of becoming the best answer.

I still get visitors regularly from many of the questions that I answered 10 months ago. I think getting voted the best answer helps because it puts you right there under the question.

Don't let the above steps seem overwhelming either, as it is I probably spend less than an hour a week on Y!A between answering and voting.

    Hope that helps!

Theoretically, it is a good strategy to follow, but your account might be banned anytime, so the bitter truth is that it is very difficult to get a good result from yahoo answers.

Its not difficult at all to get a good result if you know what you are doing. Those account banned issues have several workarounds.

    1. Don't use your personal yahoo account and risk getting it banned.

    2. Don't appear too spammy.

    3. Use several accounts to ask, answer, and vote on questions.

    4. Provide relevant answers.

    5. Answer your own questions and vote for your answers. :-)

    6. Consider not posting a link every time you post, OR post to several of your sites, not just one.

    7. You can outsource account creation and posting to your kids. ;-)

I had a website that was making 200 visitors/day from Yahoo Answers. Yes the links are no-follow but members can click on them and that's all that matters. Yahoo Answers to the IM is not for backlinking but for getting targeted traffic.

As long as you create custom answers and are smart with your answers you will get no-follow backlinks and some extra traffic from yahoo Answers.

People say no-follow backlinks are useless but they prevent an unnatural link profile. Most natural websites will have no-follow links also pointed to them.

Yahoo Answers can give traffic but not that huge. I think it is helpful if the keyword you're promoting can be found on the question where it appears on first page during search query on that keyword/topic.

It still is a good way of getting free traffic, especially as it doesn't take that much time to answer questions. I've seen people add spam to their answers and they get punished. But it's a great way to get traffic as long as you follow Yahoo's TOS

Yahoo answers is okay but it all depends on the category your answering in, in my opinion the questions are really low value and bad english as well. It seems like a lot of questions asked dont even belong in the right category.

Depending on the product or website that you are promoting, Yahoo answers can definitely help increase your popularity significantly.

Just do your best to be selected as the best answer, and never just copy paste your answer from one question to another.
