  • I imagine 'auto approve' directories are soon to be a thing of the past.
  • No i've not heard any news, do you have any example/ proof? if not then where did you read this?
  • Yes 50% of the free directory submission web sites are no longer to be found in Google.

    • But yet the ones where you have to pay for links are still there. So buying links is OK but giving them away for free is a big no no.

    • 50%? Could you please tell me where you get this number? Cause I didn't hear anything about this so far.
  • Where did you hear it from? If it's from the internet, it's real.

  • Just want to know how is it going ?
  • Yes that's true. I have read a post from Barry Schwartz that 50% of the free directory submission web sites are no longer to be found in Google.
  • I don;t know what to say, i have 55 free web directories and all have their indexed pages 10x more than a month before, lowest 20k indexed pages, highest 250k indexed pages.

Many cluelles SEO experts are throwing things to help sell their products (see the guy with penguin safe services above in signature, the usual cluelles dude making statements without proof).

  • Does this mean that AMR is worthless now as that is based on submitting to free directories?

    • I was just gonna say, AMR is useless now. The sites of mine which have seen a sudden drop in rankings is DEFINITELY all pointing towards my AMR linking.

The sites I used SENuke to backlink for, those sites are still around and not ranking any lower than they were.

According to my current data, our rankings were effected most by the following two things:

      1. Sites using AMR for sole backlinking were basically dropped off immediately, big time
      2. Sites that used blackhat SEO to get tens of thousands of links from SB and the likes.

If you want to stay legitimate these days, you gotta diversify all your links I think. Article directories, Web 2.0, Social networks, and many other types of links should all be utilized. Press Releases, etc. Anywhere that "easy backlinks" come from are going to be banished.

Also, don't take anyone's word too seriously. Google will keep changing until it kills off as many sites as it can.
  • Where did you read this? I have never heard anything like this... Well, by the way, I don't think this is a bad idea... Free directories are not so helpful for webmasters nowadays, because they link to MANY more websites than they were doing for example 2 years ago...
  • I'm also seeing it happen. I don't know why or if its 50% but some are being deindexed.
The sites don't seem to have any violations that I can see.
