Improve your CTR by 100%...

I had a very nice discovery.
I tried to improve my ctr in one of my oldest campaigns, the way I work to do it is copy the current Ad 2 time.
The 1st copied ad I dont touch - this is my "basic" group. The 2nd Ad group I modify and improve. So eventually I have 3 Ads:
1. original
2. basic
3. test

After a while I compare the results between no.2 and no.3. The reason I do that is I think no.1(original) as an unfair advantage over any new Ad due to good history.

Anyway. In this last "improvement" I had a mistake when I copied that Ad(I didnt use the adwords editor), and by mistake I had 2 lines Identical, something like that:
Lose Weight in 4 Days
The Fastest Weight Loss System
The Fastest Weight Loss System
www.mydomain.com

I realised this mistake several hours after I made it, I automatically wanted to delete it, but then I saw a very Good CTR, so I thought I'll wait a bit. and now 3 days later my CTR is 100% more then my original Ad!!!(which by the way I optimized against 17 competitors in the first month I created the campaign)

Now, I dont say that it will improve every Ad CTR, but Im going to try it in all my campaigns as an alternative.
#search engine optimization #100% #ctr #improve #ppc
  • Amazing how one thing like that can make such a turn around. What the heck I'll try it. Let you know, thanks.
  • Has the increased CTR resulted in more sales?

    • I cant say it, it looks like yes but I dont have enough statistics to be sure just yet.
  • How much are you paying for those keywords. Do you have a good quality score?

    • Im paying around 0.25$ with QS7, the whole purpose was to increase the QS
  • Any more feedback on whether the increased CTR brought about more sales?
  • thanks for sharing this, it's an interesting idea ...

all i can guess is that the ad is simpler to read, and therefore has more impact, or something along those lines
  • lol..simple....effective. Worth a try.
  • Update: couldnt reproduce it in other ads... have anyone of you tried? any success?
