1st Page Rank

I was wondering how hard it would be to get 1st page rank on google when going against a website like tmz and other gossip blogs? I am not going against the webiste for the keyword celbrity gossip or celbrity news, but more in the range of a niche in it for example i am going after PR for the keyword drew carey weight watchers (this is not the niche i am going for just using it as an example) will it be hard to get PR for those keywords?

    It really depends on how well optimized tmz or the other gossip blogs are for that keyword. Check the other sites in the top ten. If a weaker site ranks above them then you have an open door. If you have weaker sites below them, then it may not be hard as long as they are not strongly going for that keyword. If you have strong sites below them then I would say you have a tough road ahead of you.

    If you are targeting competitive keywords and facing a established competitor you are likely going to have a very difficult time getting 1st page rank. Your best bet in that niche, is to try drive traffic via social media and viral links with "edgy" material.
