Post Penguin, I followed one suggested strategy that I had seen here. That is web2.0s linking to moneysite and web 2.0 linked via fiverr gigs. Unfortunately site tanked. Home page was on second page and then following gig, went to page 10+. Unfortunately do not have login details for web2.0s, so is it ok to remove pages from money site completely, wait for deindex and start again on fresh domain without any likelyhood of penalty?

  • I'm sorry to hear about your problems with this. Thanks for adding the thread, because it is interesting to see what is happening with a lot of these strategies.

    I think people have to realize that a lot of these many things just don't work anymore.

    • Wouldn't trust anything related to links from Fiverr.

      Yup just take down the site. If you use Webmaster Tools request they remove the pages from their index. For a new site it shouldn't take more than a week or two.

      You can start building the new site while you wait and just plop on the old content when you can.
    • I got an automotated social bookmarking blast to some of the web 2.0 properties. Previously wikis that were linking to web2.0s had been blasted with Scrapbox.
  • How many of the links actually got indexed? Are you fully sure that is was the links which caused the site to drop further down? Negative SEO is possible, but I don't think that buying some fiverr gigs to tier 1 properties is going to ruin a site permanatly.
