Hello everyone..

I cannot beleive the crappy sites that now have authoritative ranks. I thought things would've changed by now. What a shame.

I now want to build many sites instead of focusing on one.

What would you suggest I NEVER do as far as links? What are considered bad links from this point forward?

Directories are totally dead I hear (and should be as they'e always been crappy).
Article directories? Dead?
What else?

    Article directories? Dead?
I don't think so, I found still articles from article directories are ranking well for some keywords.

Don't create backlinks all at the same time to multiple website you own, you could hurt all of them if they are hosted on the one ip.

Treat each site as an individual Seo campaign. It's more work, but the only real way since the latest updates.

If the link is too easy to create or acquire, you shouldn't be doing it. (This includes article directories, comment spamming, web2.0, "linkwheels", everything you can buy on fiverr and in the WSO section)

Yes some of these still work if you do them right. But you'll just be setting yourself up for a fall when Google updates again.

If you want to last, build links as if you have a auditor from Google checking your backlink profile every month. If your backlink profile can survive a human smell test, then no link-based algo will smack you.
