Before when I've thought about building a site I've just jumped in blindly, not paying too much attention to keyword research. I've had 1 sale with a site I have, but I was randomly browsing today when I cam upon a keyword which I think could work. I did some research and this is what I came up with

- Local monthly searches = 27100 (from GKW tool with [excact] selected)
- SEMRush shows an estimated 22200 serched per month.

- About 2,110,000 results (0.21 seconds) via google search for the keyword.
- SEMRush indicates 2.8m results

Google 1st page results are as follows (data from SEOquake toolbar):

- Result #1: PR0 , I:129
- Result #2: PR3 , I:89,000
- Result #3: PR1 , I:24
- Result #4: PR3 , I:1,060,000
- Result #5: PR0 , I:340
- Result #6: PR5 , I:527,000,000 (amazon)
- Result #7: PR1 , I:28
- Result #8: PR3 , I:1,930,000,000 (YT Video)
- Result #9: PR3 , I:1,930,000,000 (YT Video)
- Result #10: PR2 , I:1100

- .com & .org is taken, .net is free

Is this something that would be viable for me to pursue? I don't mind building the site and writing content, its just this keyword research thing that I don't like. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I think what you've done is just a small "not-so-significant" part of kw research. (sorry to say that, but I mean no offense)

If you're serious about building a site that earns. You may really consider getting a decent kw research tool like market samurai or keyword scout, which will give you far more "significant" insights before spending the effort.

If this stage goes wrong, everything will be wrong.

Wish you nothing less than success

This doesn't matter at all. Only the results on page one matter.

Also look at the longtail possibilities. I'd rather go after a site that has 5-10 good keywords and a 100 good longtail possibilities than just 1 strong keyword. Building sites around 1 keyword is risky business these days.

Is there a lot of possibilities for building the site out?

For that specific keyword what does the meta and titles text look like on the first page. How many on the first page are exact match.

Are there any exact match domains on the 1st page? Are there any MFA or other niche sites on the first page? (indicates easy niche to get in on)

Is it an Amazon category page (very hard to beat) or an amazon product page (easy to beat).

Thanks for your suggestions. The reasoning behind looking at 1 keyword was to build an amazon site, but I guess I'll need more than 1 keyword.

I took a look back through the results in the GKT and found some other decent keywords related to the one I first found. I downloaded market samurai and ran the keyword(s) and through it (lengths ranging from 3-7)

This is what it returned for the keyword I originally found

I also ran the other keywords through market samurai.

Most have the keyword I want in their title tag and meta tags.

There are no exact match domains on the 1st page, the keyword only appears in the url later on (i.e. domain.com/keyword-here/)

Some are review sites, there's one build for that product and others from the same manufacturer. There are some youtube videos.

        It's an Amazon product page.
