I am making $100+ per day now after penguin with 5 websites

Hello,

I use to read through posts here and DP all the day and gained some knowledge. After many ups and downs, I have started making some good income now. I would like to share my story here, hope it helps at least one person here.

I have started with 5 blogs (all at a time) and this is how I started a year back-
  • Did keyword research with market samurai - found some good keywords and purchased the domains and designed the sites with wordpress using elegant themes.
  • Plugins I used - all in one seo and seopressor for seo and some other wordpress essential plugins for better performance etc
  • I made 5 posts on each site (outsourced my content creation work). All posts are scheduled to post within 3 days. Content is around 800 words to 1200 words per each article. I did basic onpage with 1 main keyword per post and 2 other related keywords.
  • I then indexed the sites by posting on my facebook and twitter accounts.
  • Started building links 10-20 per day. I occasionally used fiverr services like senuke blast, blog posts, etc like 2-3 times a month. Most of the fiverr services are crap. After some investigation, I started carefully reading reviews before ordering gigs. Now I am using 10 gigs on a regular basis for all my sites.
  • I post daily 1 article per blog (do keyword research, order content and post it)
  • I have around 1k-1.5k list of subscribers for each blog, they will get 1 autogenerated email every day with post feed.
  • I will create 2-3 videos per month per blog (with some tips, etc) and post them to youtube etc and will share those links on my social media accounts.
  • I mainly focus on getting social media traffic rather than search engines. I do concentrate on my rankings though but as said I am more focused on social media.
  • I am ranking for many keywords and getting good social media traffic as well. Around 3-5k per blog.
  • I have monetized my blogs with affiliate products, infolinks and CPA. I write reviews for the products I am promoting and lock download links to the reports that I give away on my blogs with CPA content locker. I have email subscribers and I send them post feed only at the moment.

What I learned is, we need to be focused and try one method at a time. Proper planning is essential and success depends hugely on this. Layout a strategy/plan before we start and follow it strictly. Learn from experience and never commit the same mistake.
Commit new mistakes

Though I do not want to show my sites, niches etc, I would like to layout my SEO monthly strategy. I think many bloggers are using similar strategies.
  • Create 10 web2.0 per post (manual) (self or outsource)
  • Article Submission to over 1000+ sites (each article has 2 links to 2 posts) (fiverr works good for 5USD)
  • 3k-5k wiki backlinks per blog (once in a month with links to my posts (url spin) (again fiverr or use a bot)
  • Blog posts (3 times a month) (Do not use drip feed blog posts for 1000's of blogs. It may hurt your rankings. Carefully search and find bloggers who are willing to post your articles. Search forums or fiverr for blog posts. I choose to post on 20 blogs per month each from different bloggers on fiverr to avoid any footprints. You will also get backlinks from many domains this way with no footprints)
  • I do video marketing as well. I will create simple videos of my posts and post them to youtube.
  • I will bookmark all my post pages, web2.0 posts, etc after a week of their posting.
  • Build forum profile links and blog comments to tier 1 links.

So far even after panda and penguin updates, i am getting consistent flow of traffic.

I hope my post helped you

Regards

I wouldn't take it for granted though or copy the style if I were you, I know plenty of people who DID lose rankings after blasting 5k wiki's. I think his legit links help him survive.

What I also found a little bit funny is that he is quiet picky about the blogs he posts too as he doesn't want his links on poor blogs, but then the 5k wiki's LOL, I was really like wtf

I do agree with you Nic, Another proof that Google penguin/panda did not wash out black-hat SEO

Congrats. I'd be slightly concerned about the Fiverr gigs though. Automated blasts are good for temporary gains, but it can also cause a site to completely drop off after some time. (Depending on the backlinks.)

I don't want to be a dick but you're only making $100 a day from all that work?

5 posts per day and 10-15 videos per month seems like a pretty crazy amount of time and resouces. If you outsource that work you can't be making much. If you do it yourself it would take all day, in which case a day job might be a better option.

I don't know what your traffic looks like or the niches but maybe look into increasing the amount you make per visitor. I'd drop Infolinks. The pennies you make isn't worth bouncing that traffic to another site. Maybe focus on building that email list and providing offers there. Seems the main area you aren't hitting yet and the most lucrative on.e

Hmmm... I could probably outsource all of that for $30/day easy - and only spend about 20 minutes per day making sure it went smoothly. And then I'd be netting $70 per day. The initial start up might cost me about $60-80 and 1 full day of work.

        - After about 4 months I would have made $70 x 120days = $8400.
        - Then I might sell it for $100/day x 30days x 10 times its monthly value = $30,000
        - Which brings my final earnings to $38,400
        - All that for about (20min x 120 days / 60min/hr) + initial 8 hours of work = 48 hours of work... not too shabby.

        So $38,400/48hr = $800/hr ..... I'm happy doing that.

Yes, fiverr gigs are crap actually but there are legitimate sellers too who provide quality over quantity. I always check the feedback before I order. I have faced problems for sure but I learned from every lesson.

I said 5k per month per blog but yes I did not say that I drip feed them which I do. Also, the spam links are for tier 1 and not directly to my sites. I chose carefully for blog posts or any direct linking to my sites and not for tier 2 links since the sites which link to be sites are all old and authority sites.

I am sorry for not being clear, I mentioned that I am earning around 100USD per day with my sites excluding my costs. Only important thing is planning. Infolinks is not a great earner but affiliate commissions are great earners and they are also my major source of income. Also cpa is no less as well.

Thanks OP for clarifying that. I was wondering how you were managing to clear any money with such a demanding content schedule.

If you don't mind my asking, where were you able to find your writers and about what are you paying them. Did you pickup regular bloggers from other places or use a service. One post a day the writer would probably be an expert or should be after writing all that.

I wouldn't quit my job for that but if you say 20 minutes a day you could add 10 more site and start to make some good cash. Although the just do it once and then ramp it up scenario never seems to work out that way.

I'd be curious to see what those 5 sites would be like for only $30 a day.

Personally, I've never seen a $5 article worth reading and for $30 to cover 5 articles, plus all the SEO work, videos, finding photos etc I couldn't see the quality level being very high.

To build a site with such cheap labor, not saying it can't be done but it would be really challenging to make it with any kind of quality. Not saying you can't do it or aren't doing it. Just I don't see any way I could make the quality of site I'm used to making for a long term business with that.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong or looking in the wrong places but I've never been able to find writers who are competent enough to write for low prices. If you are building such large sites you'd also need those writers to do large amounts of research as well. More time, more money.

Of course if you don't care about quality and are just building a large MFAs essentially, I guess it doesn't matter what the content looks like. Although then I don't know how you could really build an email list with garbage content.

My strategy isn't as comprehensive as this but hey it's making you £3000 a month so hats off to you!

What impressed me is that you do this with only 5 sites. That's pretty impressive. I know some guys who make the same but with 20-50 sites.

First of all do not use themes designed specifically for adsense, I think it only hurts. Its my personal opinion, there may be some people who are doing well with them. I select themes based on my site category and I want to have a simple and decent look always. I don't over monetize my sites, provide valuable and interested content.

I learned that time management is one of the key to success in IM. I have clear cut plan and I implement it with proper timing. Since I am outsourcing most of my work, I only need to spend time on managing things. I worked on seo and designing previously and I have good idea on the work involved. I prefer multiple writers who are experts in particular field. I want content that creates interest to visitors.I don't like to have garbage on my sites.

Those calculations that you mentioned are not mine actually if you can check the posts here again. I spend more than what he or you mentioned in this thread. My earnings exclude the expenditure. I have good content and I review products. Affiliate commissions are my major source of income, if I depend on adsense then I may not earn much. To earn 100 a day with 5 sites from adsense, you really need to have tons of content and traffic.

Thanks for answering everyone questions. I have a few more...

Have you considered or tested building larger tier 1s? You mention doing 10 per post.

I understand if you don't want to say exact numbers but I'd be curious to know about how much money you started with. 5 quality articles per day would seem like it costs a good chunk.

Did you go in the red a few grand knowing you'd succeed in the long run or just spend money as it came in to start?

Have you considered or tested building larger tier 1s? You mention doing 10 per post.

I understand if you don't want to say exact numbers but I'd be curious to know about how much money you started with. 5 quality articles per day would seem like it costs a good chunk.

Did you go in the red a few grand knowing you'd succeed in the long run or just spend money as it came in to start?
As the site grows, I am planning to do more tier 1 links. But my plan varies depending on the keyword and its competition. I did lot of freelancing stuff and earned good amount before starting my own websites. My writers are neither cheap nor expensive. I have taken risk while setting up sites but I am pretty confident since I am not new and I know what I am doing. More over there are my favourite forums to guide me and never hesitate to ask a doubt in the forums.

I have started with over 1k and worked pretty hard for the first 3 months. I have setup my own sites and did most of the work myself. I have spent money on getting some advertising, some tools etc. I work hard even now, I do my own keyword research and I always check each and everything that my VA's are producing. I monetize websites myself, I will constantly check for new and upcoming products. I spend 8-10hrs a day and I will continue until I reach my goals. By the way, I am young and I love 7 enjoy what I am doing!!!

You are making $20 per site per day.
Maybe you should aim for $100 per day per website. :p

I don't believe in saturation firstly. If there are enough buyers, i will try to get in to the niche. I am not looking for get rich overnight, if the competition is heavy then it may take time to make money but surely I will get to where I want some day. But I do competition analysis and will try to find keywords with as much low competition as possible on the other hand I also try to rank for some competitive keywords

I always keep an eye on some authority sites in my niche to get new keyword ideas but I will not copy their keywords (It will be foolish to do so)

I use tools and i suggest others to use them as well. The success really depends on how you are using them. If we have to do all things manually then why should we ever use a computer :p

The same thing is applicable to SEO and link building as well.

quality content, diversification in link building are the keys. If you have built too many low quality links and if you are using wordpress script then change the permalink structure ones and see if it helps. No guarantees just do a trial and see if it works. All the best

Well everybody please note that fiverr or fiverr sellers do not do any magic, its ultimately your strategy, planning and working towards it does matter. Your success depends how you are working and managing the things like outsourcing.

lol! Yes, most of the sellers on fiverr are selling crap!!!
but there are some good ones as well, we need to check the reviews and popularity before we order any service. I no longer depend on fiverr now as said in my previous post of this thread.

I got a few pms asking to reveal my niche and blogs, please do not ask me to do so. Nobody does for obvious reasons and so do I.

Some nice info here, but I too would worry about the longevity of the rank and traffic bonus generated by fiverr gigs. Although coupling those traffic boosts with some means of social media capturing is a smart move.

Well, fiverr is not the main issue here, not at all. I just used it as part of my SEO campaigns and I solely do not depend on fiverr. Also, there is lot of crap but there are some decent gigs as well. Some worked well for me and I don't do mass blasts for tier 1 links. I go with them for tier 2 links since the sites that are linking to me directly are well established ones. Now I am not using fiverr at all, I have moved to VAs.

You need to keep on studying latest trends, implement them with the help of VAs if you cannot do yourself like me. That is what I suggest!!!

I need to continue but after some time, I don't need to work as much as I am working now. I hope so. Twitter account is not same for all sites, have different accounts for each site. I do have a personal twitter account and I will promote the post on it as well, if they are extremely good.

Facebook, I have different fan pages for each site but the account is same which is my business account and i do have a personal account as well and will promote the stuff if its useful for my friends...

    Regards
How are you monetizing your sites? Via affiliate, adsense or something else?

I am surprised that the penguin didn't affect you with those links, although I didn't see public blog networks in your link building, so that could be a factor.

      thank you and pm sent.

Always start with one and then expand, if you have a team then you can manage any number of sites depending on the size of the team. But having few authority sites is much better than having hundreds of MNS sites, that is my opinion though.

After penguin, you need to stop creating spam links on tier 1 and secondly link diversity and third deep linking. I create more backlinks to my innerpages than to homepage

First of all congrats on your success. What I suggest is to keep building up content on all these sites. After the Google updates, I have noticed that if you keep building up content on your sites, the traffic is likely to improve.

There have been case studies published on forums and blogs where people have claimed to start receiving thousands of visitors without doing any backlinking after publishing a few hundred original posts on their blogs.

So, I would suggest that you focus on adding more and more pages to your websites. Like how you spend money on SEO activities, similarly keep spending money for adding more content to the sites targeting longer tail keywords. If you do so, hopefully, you shall see much more traffic and income in the coming months.

    Nice posts.

Kudos to you for helping anyone who's paying attention and for keeping up with the thread this long while being so busy with improving your earnings.

One of the things I noticed was that you are sending an email everyday.
Can you tell if you are losing subscribers due to the frequency of emails?

I personally don't care for that many emails but maybe more people like it than those who don't.

I also find out (by keeping subscribed to daily emails for learning purposes) that the emails get shorter and shorter with less quality info being passed and they become less professional looking.

What is your strategy concerning that?

Thanks Again and keep up the great work,

    Joe

Nice info, I have noticed this as well, I am now more frequently adding new content to the websites. My traffic is almost doubled now, since starting this thread and also my earnings. Thank you very much for adding your point to the thread. Majority of my investment is going for content

In the recent times, I have made some changes in my business so as to keep with the trends. As part of my email marketing, subscribers who have subscribed to receive updates are receiving weekly digests with all the list of articles that are added throughout the week. I don't send too much promotional stuff in my emails, occasionally I will send a promotional email and promote a product only if the product has some value.

And thank you for the good words

As said, I keep on updating myself with latest trends and go accordingly. I have also changed my SEO strategies, I have made some major changes and will update this thread when I find time. I'm sure it will be five page report at least.

Previously I used to outsource my work to different people online to try and test their quality of work. Later on I have recruited virtual assistants and purchased a lot of tools.
But the cost seems to be too expensive, so I have trained a few people in my area and recruited them as my in-house team. I have 15 professionals at this moment in my in-house team. The costs are reduced by almost 60%.

Be careful with this strategy. It could all come crashing down hard. I would rather take time and build a quality site than what essentially sounds like MFA sites.

In saying that, MFA sites do not generate email subscribers, which you say you have good number of on each of the sites.

You should have read the thread properly mate, my sites are not MFA sites. They are authority sites with 100's of articles and 2 sites have more than 3k articles each.

As of now, I am not using adsense... I use to earn very less compared to my affiliate commissions. I am using affiliate products and direct advert selling on my sites to earn money.

Yes, I did a lot of work. Since I was in a beginning stage and I do not have much direct guidance, there were a lot of trial and errors. But finally I was able to succeed, I am now able to outsource most of my work. Now I'm just managing the things that are going on in my business. I now have plenty of time and hence I am expanding my business.

You don't need a team to be able to squeeze multiple projects into a single day. It's not quite 2:00PM here and I've already bounced between setting up a blog, doing some PPC research, video marketing, posting at a few forums, and answering emails.

You never want to rely completely on a single site / project. It's just a matter of being organized and able to manage multiple projects at once.

Yeah - to me it's been more about getting the action plans in place and actually doing them. At the start I would work on a project, see something else that looked better/more recent and work on that, run out of time with the first project, etc etc. It's difficult to ignore most of the crap information and WSOs being sold when you're first starting out. Too much information! Once I got over that it's been fine managing a couple of things at once.

I have suggested focusing on one thing at a time for beginners and not for pros. Pros will have perfection at what they are doing and hence they can easily manage multiple projects at a time. Beginners may not have the tools, resources that are may be required for the business (If they want to develop authority websites, they need to have SEO, keyword research and some other tools to save time). Without tools, if everything needs to be done manually, it takes a lot of time.

Doing keyword research, writing articles, designing a website with all onpage seo factors and then promoting website via seo and social media is not going to be that easy for a beginner with no tools and proper guidance.

Say for example, you have to write 2-3 articles per day. It may take 2hrs or more for a beginner to write articles (Good quality), they have to do keyword research which may take some hours if they are doing it manually. SEO and social media marketing takes a hell lot of time. I am not talking about just the work involved in the early stages, but I am talking about the work involved until we see success. Information overload will confuse beginners, which I think is a huge problem now a days. There will be lots of trials and errors, some may work and some may not.

And before doing all this, first a beginner should actually have proper knowledge and guidance. And then he should properly implement what he had learned. There are tons of things online which may confuse a beginner.

If there are multiple projects, he can do nothing perfectly. Good planning, being organized, proper implementation, etc are only self taught with exp.

I am doing this myself and I am mostly outsourcing my work to my in house team which saves tons of my time. So I am able to focus on multiple projects and I can expand my business.

After seeing the success, now everything seems to be clear for me and so I am working on multiple projects. Everything seems to be damn easy, but this was not the case few years back. When I was a beginner, I use to switch between projects and had done lot of mistakes. I have to learn everything myself including the technical stuff (designing websites, customizing, etc) and I was actually not sure, which one works and which ones do not. Everything seems to be very confusing. I use to get so many doubts while learning and implementing what I have learned. Forums have helped me a lot. All my questions are answered and I am really grateful to the IM community here.

Start working on one domain first, make money from it. Then implement the same strategies on other domains. Use your hard earned money wisely in outsourcing and buying tools etc.
