Yeah, it's natural to get most of a sites links from related sites/blogs/forums.

Step outside of SEO & look at sites that don't spam links.

BTW, you'll never control 100% of any sites links, still a normal site stays in it's own niche. Why would anyone build links on a dog website when their own site is about cars, those are not normal links.

Stay in the same niche!

Hey Yukon I think car and dogs can be relevant! Lets say I dog is peeping through a car window if his master left any half eaten hot dog on the site. Whats the problem?

What are you meaning by profile backlinks? If I make a account on warrior forum and keep that account without logging in then will that profile be worthless?

Whether you login or not, any links in that profile are worthless for SEO. If you participate in a forum, or on a webiste, you may see some direct traffic from the links, but it is not going to boost your rankings for anything other than a keyword that has zero competition.

Paul Johnson is still ranking #1 for "quality backlinks" I don't find that worthless.

I'll admit, I never quite understood the appeal of PR N/A forum profiles. Angela / Paul style backlinks used to be looked at as the "Holy Grail" of backlinks, which always confused me a little.

O.K.

Here is my take on it.

I don't use forum profiles for backlinking now, but long time ago when I was a newbie I ranked a webpage completely with forum profiles for a medium competition keyword and still after several years with very minimal backlinking effort (few backlinks every other month) it is on the second position for that keyword. It used to be one, then someone put a lot of effort and built a PR 4 website around the same keyword and it could beat my webpage. I didn't care so it is sticking at 2.
There are several point though.
- That webpage didn't get any traffic for several days several years back. I suspected it was under investigation for penalty, but my guess is: because it had the best content for that keyword, it passed a manual check and the traffic came back after a few days.
- There were about 20,000 backlinks at the time. With my current knowledge I don't ever recommend this many low quality backlinks sent at once to a money site.
- They did a very interesting thing, that I didn't see in any forum profile services thereafter. They used my keywords everywhere in the forum profiles and it made forum profiles relevant pages, kind of. Low quality but relevant and a lot of them. I guess that was the reason it worked. Around the same time, I used other similar services for other webpages and none of them worked. The difference was using keywords in profiles. Everything else was similar. Again, this was a few years back. Google has better monitoring now, and is sensitive to forum profiles in general, simply because they cry they are unnatural out loud. I wouldn't use this method now for a site I care about.
- If you insist on using forum profiles, then use drip feed with few number of forum profile backlinks everyday and mix it up with other backlinking methods all drip fed, but why do that when you can get a good high PR backlink that is worth about the same 10,000 low quality links instead.
