Question about msyql databse, if needs to be deleted after movign site.

Recently I moved my website to a new domain on same hosting, and now it points with a 301 redirect to the new domain.

I have deleted all the files that were in the old domain except for the msqyl database. Because in the future I might want to switch back to it.

Would this cause duplicate content for SEO? I mean all the files for the site are gone, just not the database, will Google still be able to tell?

Should I delete the database on old domain?

Cheers!

Google crawlers and others are crawling the content on your webpages.
When you remove the pages, they are not able to access any of the info that is stored in your mysql database.

You can safely leave the old database intact.
However, it would be smart to back it up and save a copy of the database locally.

The database is not content. It's not even seen.
You'd have to login to cpanel or something to
    view that.

If you switched the site right, it switched everything
    over, including database.

If you switch it back, the reverse would be true. Doing
it the right way would bring the database as well.

No reason to leave it on the old domain taking up disk
space. Besides, if you truly transferred the old site
over, mysql as well, then it must need it. It would
be altering the database anyway. The old database
    would soon be outdated.

Since you did a 301, you are still paying for hosting on
the old domain. You should have left the old domain as is,
linked to the new site. Instant terrific backlink.

Thanks for the replies! Then I will just leave the database as it is without worrying about duplicate content

Paul- What I did is copy the msqyl database of old domain and used that for the new one, copied the other files over and corrected the internal linking. Placed a redirect in htaccess file on old domain to the new one via a double redirect.

I am basically doing this because my site got tanked badly due to penguin, trying this alternative method of starting up a new domain but having all the same content. Then doing a double redirect to new domain so the backlinking juice gets passed on but not with the full penalty.
