Hey everyone,

I want to rank for a highly competitive, broad-term keyword and I am wondering how long will it might take me to rank for it.

This is the SEO competition in market samurai:

It really depends on how much effort you can put in for them. Obviously, ranking keywords with high competition is not a mugging stuff. It needs time, good plan for SEO, a lot of good article writing, and of course a bit favor of luck! ... But surely dude, they are achievable. It may take time, say three months, after doing constant link building. Try to build links through article marketing. It is the best way of getting easy and high ranking.

Choose your keyword, gradually build contextual back-link on that keyword to your site and wait for the result.
BTW: your site content should be unique to rank higher.

SEO is a pain but so worth the effort.

      True. It's so unpredictable too.

According to Market Samurai in the picture that I showed, it doesn't seem to be THAT extreme to beat the competition as the top 10 ranking websites are mostly green and yellow. If I did my SEO right, do you guys think it's possible to beat the competitors within 2 months?

I would classify this under an easy-medium competitive keyword but thats juts personal preference.

From experience, 1 month is enough to rank on Page 1

If I can give you any advice after crashing - Penguin style is vary the anchor text, dont hammer your desrired keyword in every link and also build "brand" links which are your domain name links, click here, watch this and so forth.

Well, ranking for a competitive keyword sometimes requires more than a month to be on 1-3rd place in google. Firstly, you should check each website on 1st page and check where they get their best backlinks and try to receive them and also some extra backlinks and I am sure you will outrank them. Just be sure NOT to receive too many backlinks the first day or daily, because it could look spammy for google

If you have a good optimization and backlink strategy you should be able to do this in 2 months easily. It all depends on how good you are though and how much time you put in it.

BTW, you should also take a good look at some of the URLs in the top ten and analyze the pages individually.
