Do You Use Proxies for Leaving Blog Comments?

I think it is good if you leave them in different niches or with different pen names. But the problem is a lot of proxies are blacklisted and your comment won't go through. And then even if you switch proxies to find one that does, your comment will be a duplicate and you'll have to rewrite it.

How do you deal with this? Or do you just not worry about it and leave comments without proxies?

Depends if you're leaving tons of comments, or spammy comments, or if you're actually commenting like a normal person on a popular blog and adding to the conversation.

If you are using Scrapebox or some other mass posting tool, YES use proxies!

If you're legitimately leaving a comment, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Even then I prefer to use private proxies. All it takes is a couple of webmasters not liking your comment, even if they're legitimate / high quality.

Don't use public proxies, they are almost always blacklisted by akismet. Don't post comments without a proxy as well, because your home IP will get blacklisted very quickly.

Get private proxies, or even better get shared private proxies. That way, you get more IPs than private proxies for the same cost, thus less chance of your proxies getting banned. I have a bunch of proxies from sharedproxies.com and they work perfectly for Scrapebox/blog commenting.

This does sound like the way to go. I do wish there were some free public proxies that weren't banned or even a way to tell if they are banned from akismet before commenting? Is there like an akismet tester or something?

I'm not doing anything spamming really. Leaving meaningful comments. It's just that I'm in various niches with pen names so it seems a little off using the same ip for all of them. Also it seems like, as you said, eventually the ip would get banned, even if someone just accidentally thinks it's spam.

I'll keep sharedproxies in mind. Any other ideas?

It has never been a good idea to comment with public proxy, they are not
only a waste of time but can put your home network ip at risk of been black listed.

You need atleast 10 private poxies to post successfully, if you are using SB you need to adjust your connections in line with your network speed, this will help reduce the failure rate.

Why would your home ip get blocked from using public proxies?

I'm not even using SB. I just want to make like 10 or 15 comments on blogs a day manually. Good comments too. But I just kind of want them to stay anonymous because I'll be in other niches with different names is all.

The only time you should be using proxies is when you are planning to leave multiple comments on the same domain.

Other than that, the use of proxies for "increased success rate" is crap.

Employing proxy is the step of negative SEO. I would recommend you that if you want to pass comment on blog or article then it would be great option that pass it manually.

It is more safer if you use proxies. Of course don't overdo this action (blog commenting), because this could hurt your website at least if your comments are spam

In most of the cases I don't use any proxy services. Just do commenting on relevant blogs and avoid overdoing on the same site (i.e. for each and every post).

It depends on whether you have a bulletproof server or not. If using scrapebox, I would say it's a waste of time to try and avoid akismet blogs. There are plenty of blogs which do not use this plugin, so now the issue simply is whether you can get a server that allows you to blast as much as you want.

Personally, I have a bulletproof server and use no proxies. It works great. Occasionally if I want to switch up the IP, I use a bulletproof VPN.

Certainly, I think private proxies for scrapebox are a slight waste of money, given that the effectiveness of automatic SB blasting is diminishing as time goes by.

High anonymous elite private proxies are like the condoms of the internet. You should always wrap it up.

    Never comment without a proxy.

    Why?

Some blog owners are so anti-spam crazed they will cry to akismet about ANY comment that includes an outbound link to an affiliate site or non-related blog even if you leave a phenomenal well thought out comment.

I suppose if you're only commenting on closely related niche blogs you could roll the dice.

Apart from being an annoying SOB spamming and wasting other people's time, the whole spam comments has to be mostly a waste of time for the person doing it. How much can those crappy links with spun babble be worth justify even a modest time investment? Whatever it is, it is only going to drop over time with search engines looking to weed out that garbage. In addition, most webmasters with any experience and decent blogs know what is going on and are not going to let the comments even get through.

Crappy links from crappy blogs is about all you are going to get.

Blog commenting isn't just "blast the crap out of blogs with junk comments." You can do niche-related commenting for traffic, comments on PR1+ posts for backlinks, etc.

Blog commenting is not always equal to spamming. It's just that you have to be responsible and sensible in making comments to a certain blog.

Spun comments are definitely useless and can harm your rankings but if you do it in a right way proxies are no longer needed anymore.

Even if your comment is legit, it is still possible that it gets flagged as spam by akismet and other similar tools. So to be on the safe side and not to risk your own IP, use a private proxy.

    Builder154,

If you are truly using manual commenting and not an automated solution, and you want to revisit the same blog to leave comments in different niches, then you should consider a VPN service such as HMA. It is easy to use for the purposes you have stated in this thread. Do a search here on WF for VPN service and you will find many warriors use them. There is a Warrior selling a VPN service here at a good price, I have not tried them yet so cannot give a recommendation on them one way or the other. But I have used HMA for a few years and have been very satisfied with their service.
