Can someone review our PPC guys landing page? (so we know we're not getting ripped off)

This guy we've been using for the last 4 years, just isn't getting us leads anymore like he use to. We pay him 2 grand a month, and the last 3 months we just haven't been getting any leads. This month alone we got 2 which is horrible, so there is a good chance we're going to get rid of him after all these years.

One more thing, I don't know much about PPC myself, but I have designed my own websites. I have seen landing pages before that look good.. and his just looks too "plain" & boring.

So when we recommended that he changes it, he said he's already split tested various different LP's, and that this one converts the best.

Problem is, I think he's FOS because we're barely getting leads anymore.

Here is the landing page he is using now: New Jersey Basement Waterproofing, NJ Waterproofers

It would mean SO MUCH TO ME if I could have some legitimate PPC experts just look at this page and tell us their real thoughts on it.

Does this look like a LP that a "professional" would make?
My boss likes the guy a lot because he kisses his ass relentlessly and at one point we were actually getting a lot of leads. But over the past year, we've been getting nothing but excuses from him.

So if he sees that you guys have anything negative to say (I'm not trying to bait anyone I just want honesty) this can really help me open his eyes.
I look at the landing page and think "that just looks like lazy work".
Its got a bit of aesthetics, but comparing it to other LP's it looks like a joke almost.

What do YOU guys think?

Thanks! - Red

Granted im not a PPC "expert", I think he did a good job with the simplicity of the page. Having too much "flash" and graphics can actually take away from the call to action and serve as a distraction to your visitors. In your case the blue optin contrasts to everything else and draws my attention.

One thing I would recommend is for you guys to place the "$750 off" coupon above the fold. Basically swap it with the basement pictures as the pics really do nothing to entice me to submit my information.

I think the main question you should be asking him at this point is how extensive was his split testing? Which elements were tested (i.e. submit button, pic placement, optin form head & subheadline etc.)

Also, what kind of "excuses" is he giving you guys? Or in other words, what is his explanation for the sudden drop in leads?

I think, overall, the page looks good. I agree with swapping the images. I'd also change the the Submit button text. It says "Submit Quote". The visitor isn't submitting a quote.

Also, I think what's more important is what keywords are bringing your traffic. If the site always produced and suddenly stopped, it could be due to the time of day the ads are running, their position, or the keywords aren't as targeted as they once were.

I can't thank you guys enough I really appreciate you taking a look at the LP.

This guy is always acting like he's perfect and never mistakes so I'm happy to see he screwed up the submit button. My boss use to worship the ground he walks on (just starting to open his eyes) and he's said some very cocky/arrogant things in the past that led me to believe he was full of himself.

I don't like the stupid slanted thing on the top left, and I also think the site could have a headline or something more compelling to draw people in. The label "waterproofing nj" just seems so boring, and I don't feel like the LP is well done. I will also ask how much split testing he did &
I know he'll get somewhat offended but I don't care. In the past I've asked him really specific questions and he'll remark "if I gave all my secrets away I'm basically training you how to be my competitor". I remarked "no, that means your a player on our team" and he got pissed. I just know this guy can't be trusted.

So I've decided I'm going to start competing against him knowing absolutely nothing about PPC. I just feel like I can do a better job making a LP myself. I know its going to turn out to be a lot harder than I think. But I've met the kid and I don't get the impression he's that much smarter than I am. All he seems to know about is PPC because when I ask him questions about anything else (programming/seo/backlinking etc) he doesn't know anything.

I'm going to design 3 different LP's and see what I can do here. If I can get more than 2 leads with the $600 I have I know my boss will fire him so I'm going to try really hard.

I have a lot of respect for humble people and he is anything but that. I'm going to bust my ass to see if I can outperform this guy while knowing nothing about ppc. Will let you guys know how it goes. =]

    Red...

It sounds as if there is a power struggle. Let me caution you that if you don't know what you are doing, you can quickly find your AdWords account permanently banned. If you are using your company's AdWords account, it could be you who ends up fired so be careful.

This, of course, assumes you are using AdWords.

Are you paying him $2000 to manage your adwords spend for you or are you paying him $2000 and the adwords spend is included in that amount? If the latter, then you should get some data from him on the number of clicks, CPC and the keywords that are bringing clicks to the account. You can learn a lot about what is going on that way. If he is supposed to be spending $1500 of the $2k on clicks or something and he is only spending $200 then you will know whats up.

If on the other hand, the $2k is to manage your separate adspend, then my first suggestion would be that you are paying too much for that kind of service... But I would really think that the other scenario is probably the case - in which case, you need to see what is actually happening in the adwords acct to get the best idea of what is going on.

I do paid search and seo for a living. imo your landing page is rather plain but most importantly, it is severely lacking in information and trust. Here are some landing pages being used by some of your competitors

    www.affordablewaterproofingllc.com (good)
    www.valuedry.com (good)
    healthywaynj.com/basement-waterproofing-LP.php (bad)
    www.vulcanwaterproofing.com (bad)
    www.newjerseywaterproofingpros.com (average)
    www.localbasementswaterproofing.com (average)
    www.quality1stbasementsystems.com/free-estimate.html (good)
www.dryguys.com (similar to the above - they probably have two adwords accounts)
    newjerseywaterproofing.danmatt.com (worse than bad)
    www.thompsonswaterproofing.com (good)

    good
    - images of (smiling) humans and water leaks
    - video message
    - business information with contact info
    - discounts/coupon codes
    - reviews/comments
    - live online chat/help
    - information in bullet points, short paragraphs

    bad
    - not enough info or in the form of walls of text
    - no or poor navigation
    - poor CTA
    - no relevant images.

This is not a PPC issue. There could be a PPC issue but you are asking us to evaluate your landing page. The page is simple but nothing wrong with that. I think the aesthetics are fine.

But aesthetics don't sell. It's the message. There's nothing there that makes me want to call you guys if I have that particular problem. Nothing jumps out. You got only a few seconds because people have short attention spans. You got to have something that jumps out and makes people want to read further and call you. In my opinion, that page doesn't have it.

Find a good copywriter that knows how to sell. Your $2k will be better spent. Then find a good PPC manager to get quality clicks. That shouldn't cost $2k a month.
