Is this to fast? Or is it to slow? Or just right?

I have a SEO guy working on my site and more specifically a few keywords to start as well as my places page. I am in the service industry. After two weeks he took one of my most important keywords from 188th to 44th position and he said that it took awhile because my site has very little traffic and doesn't get scrolled much yet. He says he is working on building traffic by social bookmarking as well.

My question is does this all sound correct? Anything I should look for or tell him?
Thanks so much everybody

  • One thing you need to look out for is the difference between "to" and "too".

    • Thanks for your helpful smart *** remark.
  • If your site is targeting the keyword in your signature, it is quite slow actually.

For me when I provide service to clients, I would just focus 100% on seo only and not try drive traffic to the website for short-term traffic like social bookmarking unless you hired him for traffic generation as well.
  • Sounds good to me. Our industry does not have a ton of traffic on our sites obviously so getting some more traffic will help IMO for google to see your site better. Constantly add content via your blog as well. You definitely don't want fast as that usually is from black hat SEO which eventually will get your page demoted.
  • Hi, I think its all correct..
You need to get traffics for your site to get higher position..
But it would be also great if you try to create good quality contents on your site..
Whats the point if visitors on your website dont appreciate your site at all..

    • While I have heard that content is important I don't think most of my clients want to read to much but rather see a family portrait and know who's coming out to there home. Were a cleaning service. There is some relevant content on each page with my keywords in Bold.
  • You've mentioned something about traffic. How much of that traffic is actually converting into your customers? Wouldn't that matter more? Anyway, to answer your question about your SEO guy's efforts being too fast or too slow, I suggest that you ask him to make a report of the things that he has done for your site for you to be able to track the things that he's been doing for your site.
  • I would like to know the answer to the above question as well. Thanks for clarifying.
