I was wondering about the following and didn't know where to ask this question. Does a countries website sometimes rank better than a .com? For example, will a south african .co.za or an italian .it rank better with less SEO and backlinks than a .com of the same name website in that spesific country?
Which one ranks better?

i.e. www.thesamename.com and www.thesamename.it
Basically, will a .it rank easier in italy that a .com or not?
