  • I still use 2%, max. 3% density but some say it will be better if only 1%, more that 1% is considered as spam.

    • Forget about KW density - just make sure the keyword appears once in the many body of text and include a few semantic variations.

  • I am using 3% right now ..!! Folks is it good for my site ..???
  • Currently I'm doing 0.5% - 1% for my main targeted keywords on my new sites.

Previously I was doing 1-2.5% and no problems there.
  • Best keyword density is not to care about density. Period.
  • Roughly 1%. but there is no hard and fast rule. The key is to understand the power of LSI keywords too.
  • I'm using less than 2% and more than 1%. I think that looks really natural.
  • 3.746%. EXACTLY.
    • [1] reply
    • EXACTLY lmao
Ive been using 3% since the first update and never changed and no problems

  • 2-3% is standard. But not more than 4%.

If your stuffing keywords, shoot for 100% density/stuffing.

Don't hold back, go for broke!

  • Keyword density is such a thing of the past. I am very surprised people still worry about this. You guys do know you can rank a page that doesn't even have the keyword anywhere on the page.

    • Really!? I wonder how?
  • Keyword density was never an issue... None of the search engines' guidelines define any specific density.
But its a webmaster's responsibility to keep it as natural as possible so as not to hamper the user experience.
  • No should more than 4% i think.
  • 3%-8% before
    1%-2% now
  • I think keyword density do not play in ranking right now. However it can play in other part of penalized trap for those who stuffing keyword density in article
  • I think anything between 2% - 5% is ok. But you need to make sure the keywords make sense in the post and also you reduce the internal and outbound links within the post.
  • I use Seoquake check my keyword density. It show 1.07 %.
  • I have never bothered about keyword density,I just use keyword naturally means keyword insertion should look natural.
  • 1 to 1.5% is better.
Minimum 4-6 LSI keywords also must be used in very natural way.

    • My Guess...
      Pre-Penguin
      3-4%
      Post penguin
      more natural usage 1-3%

This of course always depends on how the target keyword is used in the Title and H tags and I still think that Google has some weight on these items because they are like subconscious metadata.

Variations are always important but natural, relevant, well written content trumps injecting keywords to increase density or removing to reduce the density at the expense of the language and readability.

  • I've tested on thousands of pages. You don't need any keyword in the body as long as the page content is relevant to the keyword in your title and description tag. What really matters is the contextual backlinks with varying anchor tags.
    • [1] reply
    • Sounds good beside the fact that google did not use the description tag anymore since like 2 years or so.
  • 3% is perfect density
  • Less than 4% is ideal, anything more and your are pushing the limits.

Also make sure that 4% is spread throughout the article. Google's looking for keyword stuffing, so if you have all of the variations of they keyword above the fold, that could easily be misconstrued as keyword stuffing.
  • I am using 3% and found no problem at all.

2-3% is working for me at the moment. Earlier I used to go for 4-5%. I also use 5-6 LSI keywords to provide relevance. This should work for you as well.
  • boss i use only 2 to 3 % keyword density..it is always good either before or after google update...
you can use your keywords extra but with some synonyms..

  • "Keyword density" is a very stupid thing in the current SEO world. Forget you even heard about it.
    • [1] reply
    • That is also right. The main thing is that what content used should be relevant to the theme.
  • 2% - 4% is the best density for keywords. More than it could be listed you in trouble. The best SEO for your website will help you doing good in Google rankings.
  • I think you shall not go more than 2 % Keyword Density post penguin world.
  • I've never checked the keyword density. but always said no more than seven times throughout the page, including the navigation links and other none content instances.

In content, three is enough for Google to understand. Also, considering Google is much better at LSI now, you don't really have to worry about keywords at all, just insert them naturally.
  • Randomness is key.
  • Don't think of it as keyword density for just one keyword. Find out all the relevant words used in top rankings content for that keyword and then identify the ideal density for each one.

Finding out your "core" LSI words and keeping within the freshold is what will make a difference when comparing test A) and test B).
  • Previously Only the core targeted Keyword was sufficient but lately to add diversification is a wise idea.
    A mix and match of
Relevant Anchor : Partial Relevant Anchor : Irrelevant Anchor: Naked URL
    2:2:1:1
  • I try to keep it as natural as possible. Sure, some clients want a 2% or higher density at times. However, this doesn't always mean it comes off as natural. I try sprinkling in LSI keywords throughout the article and making it flow naturally.
  • The "best" KW density is to STOP worrying about KW density.

Don't count it, unless you are stuffing, then count it and subtract a shitload.

Put it in at the beginning naturally, use LSI throughout and get it in maybe once more at the end.....that's all you need to do.

  • I'll be starting a new site soon and I was just wondering people's thoughts on this after all the Google updates. It would be great if I could just use the keyword I'm trying to rank for once in the title and description but is this the wrong way to do it?

    Any thoughts are appreciated
    • [6] replies
    • You know, I don't think you can get a straight answer cause no one knows.

I can tell you what works for me though.

I use the keyword phrase in the title and if its a blog post or you tube video or whatever I use it as the poster also. I use it in the description and I use it three times in the article unless its a small article.

      I try to at least.

The way I really feel, if your a great writer you don't need to worry about it cause it will all wash in the end. Great content is great content and that is all there is to it.

    • And density has no meaning to keyword stuffing even though everyone says that.
Density means The density of a substance is its mass per unit volume. which means zero percent is the density or 2.7 percent is the density.

Density does not mean keyword stuffing and never has.
      • [1] reply
    • Keyword density always matter.
    • Don't be too stressed out with that. You just have to mention your target keywords to your content and make sure that you land it properly.

Latent Semantic Idexing is a good way also to diversify your keywords.

  • I am writing blog posts for a new website that I want to set up. I am not sure how many times I should include the keywords in the articles. My articles are generally 500 words - 1, 000 words long. What keyword density should I use and is keyword density important (as long as I am not spamming keywords in articles)?
At the moment, I am using keywords 3-4 times in the articles.
    • [4] replies
    • To be honest with you, there is no hard rule how many times you should use.keyword or links in your article. All the things are accepted as far as they looks natural. Links must be value added to the topic on which they are put. So two more important things are it must look natural and must add some value to the current topic.
    • Many SEO Experts says that Keyword density between 2-3% is best for SEO Purpose. Using more keywords on a webpage may be taken as spam.
      Best of luck
