A universal way to measure ranking difficulty?

Hi,
I've been on the lookout for a solid monthly SEO company to handle my portfolio of websites.
The way I am evaluating them is by taking keyword that they are proud of, running them through keyword blaze, and comparing them with my own target keywords.
When I go around to SEO companies asking for comparisons, a lot of them either don't have Keyword Blaze, or refuse to divulge their keyword. The ones that give me a keyword show that the keyword seems easy to outrank, and in one instance, I did outrank an SEO company.
I understand their refusal to divulge the keyword, but I'm still at the very least interested in the keyword blaze score or similar so I can establish whether or not an SEO firm is capable of ranking my sites for my given keywords
Is there a better way to compare SEO firms against each other?
