Just out of curiosity I would like to know how quickly are you guys ranking your new website? I am only talking about people who have gotten there site past -50 (I consider that the safe zone) for the majority of your keywords?

I got mine to around 25-30 within 3 days because of social bookmarking and backlinking (About 60 bookmarks and 50 links)

Well my last one ranked on page 1 within a day.
The one before that took about 2 weeks.
The one before that took 4 days.
The one before that took just over a month...

and on and on and on....

Depends on your niche and what keywords you're targeting.

It depends, my fastest was literally less than 1 day (got my first clicks within 24 hours, ranking on the 1st page). I've had some that takes weeks, and some that still haven't ranked.

Totally depends on your keywords + comp + backlink + luck.

When you guys say social book marking do you mean ten sites or oodles? I use a couple web 2.0 sites and about five social bookmarks and that's not enough, but I dont want to overdo it. either.

I wouldn't submit "oodles". 10-30 quality bookmarks at a time would be sufficient. Just remember to do it consistently.

Sorry man, but this question is completely arbitrary. It's like asking how long a piece of string is (the old internet joke).

You can build a site today and optimize it for a keyword that no one has ever heard of, of course you are going to rank #1 almost immediately.

It's possible to rank a website on page #1 within days and its possible to never rank on page 1.

If you want a more methodical and constructive analysis you need to incorporate some more data like exact local searches, title competition or similar.

I'm not trying to flame or anything, but this question is just way too broad ;-)

Cool guys, just wondering. As for the question being to broad I know, this is exactly what I am looking for. Post Peguin alot of people been telling me their new sites are ranking faster and stronger than their old site, just wanted to see everyone experience on this.

Since many established sites with manipulative practices lost ranking when Penguin rolled out, it may seem easier to launch a new site and get it ranking.

It looks like Penguin will be refreshed and tweaked monthly. So it doesn't matter how fast or how slow new sites rank -- they can tank if they run afoul of penguin.

Page 1 usually takes about a month for me. Than maybe 2 or 3 more weeks after that to have things really solidify.

I am curious to hear more about the social bookmarking that you feel helped you to rank.

Well, I don't have a new site, but I can pretty much say that there are sites out there that have maintained their position on the top pages of the search results. It just takes consistency in content creation and link building.
