Content Duplication Issues :(

I have seen many of my unique written articles on other website's blog. They have just copied the whole content without a link back to my website.

How should I deal with those a**holes? I am really mad because those articles are unique and provide really good information for users.

Is there something that I can do or I will just let that as it may?

  • Are these articles on your website or unique articles used as promotional content? If the articles are on your site, and you are using Wordpress, do a search for an "anti scraper" plugin to prevent people from scraping your content. If you are just building backlinks with each article, I would just ignore it and write more content.
  • From Google's standpoint, I'm quite sure they have the ability to see where the content was posted first, so there should be no issues as far as penalization for duplicate content goes.

    This happens to a number of my websites, but I always figured it was just a natural part of the game. Will definitely look into the solution that Pyramid Linkers mentioned, though.
  • this caused a huge mess with panda,
    there were big name brands getting slapped because of small copycat sites stealing content.
    google doesnt have a 'accurate' way of knowing who made it first yet it would mean more data processing -
    so:

    here is what you can do if this is a big issue:
    1st: contact the copy site and ask them to either add a link or remove the content
    2nd: if you dont get anything back/they are rude/ they dont do as you ask:::
    look up the DNS of the domain where their site is and find out who they are hosting with nameserver: will be; ns1.hosting company.com ns2.hosting company.com for example
    contact the support to say that someone is using your content without permissions.

    Terms and Conditions of hosting companies forbid it - either they will od something about it, or they will ban the account of the naughty webmaster

  • Hey Paul, So it means there's nothing I can do with it? How Google treat those kinds of cases?

    I'm still frustrated honestly because I have exerted lots of efforts in writing those articles to just found out that those dump**** just copied and pasted them.

      Is your named mentioned or your site mentioned, or a link back to your site provided in the content they have re-posted on their website?

      Do as mentioned in posts 4 and 5; attempt to communicate first. The copyright protections vary from not only state to state but from region to region, but intellectual property rights for use on the internet can get complicated and a little bit tricky.

      If this is costing you money (it is obviously costing you time since you are on here speaking about it) i highly recommend you seek out what your legal recourse is. Having worked in law firms as a paralegal, I can tell you that much can get accomplished through letters written on a law firm's letter head, especially letters written with attachments, showing the source of the original content, and the offending websites url with the WHOIS information showing the owner(s) of the offending website, etc. Usually within the body of these letters is contained the threat of legal action and in the alternative, a payment of fees for copyright infringement in lieu of the offending party taking down the content instead of being taken to court, etc.

      So, "guide your conduct accordingly," as they say in the legal profession. Do some research, attempt to communicate, and if all else fails, speak with an attorney and then perhaps retain them to get the offending party to pay you for your damages.
