    I don't really look at forum posting as a way to generate backlinks. (Profile backlinks are pretty weak.) However, forums are a GREAT way to drive very targeted traffic to your site, offer, etc. I've always found it to be some of the highest converting traffic as long as you're posting in niche related forums.

    Yeah, I agree with the post above mine. Forum backlinks are not so powerful after all the updates. They can drive you traffic, but they are a great way to use other keywords (to change your anchor text density percentage)
