Forum Profile Links Dangerous?

On all my sites, I have purchased forum profile links - but some of these sites that I have now have been hurt by Google Penguin.

All of the forum profile links are from unrelated forums and the signatures are basically unrelevant as well, with the keyword anchor text pointing to my site.

The good news is I have access to all of these links and can either remove them or change the anchor text to "click here" or my root domain.

Which approach would you go? What should I do with these links?

Just cause a link is low quality doesn't you should remove it. Removing links is an absolute last resort. When Google sees a site is losing links it isn't a good thing for you.

You are better off building lots more links to dilute the garbage you've created. Take a look at the link profiles of sites with a natural link profile and replicate what they look like.

P.S. Making comment spam with "click here" is retarded.

Also i should say that google sees forum profile links as spam and when they catch on your website could be penalized. Just saying.

Change those links to web2.0s or articles.

Better way is to create some web2.0 sites and redirect all those links to it.

I wouldnt say they were dangerous....

If you whole link profile was of forum links then that is not too clever but if you have a good mix of links from different properties they all compliment each other.

Most people just go to the extreme

You need a SEO analysis from an SEO expert to ask to your question....
