Recommend a rank tracking tool

I've been using google webmaster tool so far for tracking my keywords, however as I'm getting to read more and more on the forums I'm seeing people post graphs that represent rank tracking.

Is there some defacto standard that most warriors use for rank tracking? and if so what would that tool be?

Thanks much

Rank Tracker is the best imo. Unfortunately its on the pricey side. You'll have to figure out how to get it yourself.

Its great because you can check google rankings over time and it graphs everything so you can see gradual improvement or not.

I love this thread as I have specifically come here today to look at Rank Tracking solutions.

I was using Rank Tracker and am getting fed up with it being blocked by Google. My settings are 'human' and I am just a little fed up!!

Anyone got any soothing words of comfort or ideas on how I can get this premium price tool running please in-my-box

I like microsite masters. Best thing about it that I haven't found in any other rank track is that you can make notes of linkbuiling or content or whatever changes you made to a site and it'll note that no the graphs so you can see if your linkbuilding is actually paying off.

ranktracker.com has a free version that works fine. You only need to pay in order to have it track keywords long term. But if you check on a day to day basis, then it's completely free of charge.

There are dozens of online tools that you can find and there is no standard for rank checkers, the one I'm using is rankranger.com and besides the fact that it is awesome, it is the only tool that i found that has different ranking systems, besides the regular count it can count duplicate rankings and specific landing pages which is perfect for me since we do reputation management for our customers and we need to track a specific page instead of root domain which most of the other tools supports.

I personally use serpfox.com, I pay $10 a month to track 50 keywords. It graphs and checks the ranks every 4 hours, most important for me is it checks the first 500 results.

I was using MS but it limits to 100 serp's and after penguin there is so much movement that you need to see what works and what doesn't.

          Hope this helps you.

Some of those mentioned above such as Microsite Master and Rank Tracker are great (Sescout used to be great but it seems to be having problem updating data these days)

However, A completely free Rank Tracker that can check up to 500 depth with unlimited sites and keywords (and with graph) would be SerpAttack. Though you'd better use proxy when checking many keywords (use Hotspot Shield free proxy). So rank tracking is free

Sescout is a disaster now, so is SerpFox. Microsite Masters is the only good one left, I am convinced. I used to use easyseotracker because it was, well, easy, and cheap. But it is constantly offline, and completely unreliable now.

Some people recommended Cute Tracker or something like that, a downloadable program that crashes before you can even do any work. Do not recommend this.

A lot of the other ones are way, way too pricey, or way, way too confusing (Traffic Travis -- what?!?! I'm not an idiot, but I can't figure this one out.).

Anyway, for $50, I can track 700 keywords, get notifications, everything I could have asked for and more, with Micro Site Masters. I'm sharing this because I literally went though 20+ tracking services until I finally hit the gold mine.

I'm not sure if people appreciate that any SERP tracker that runs off your own PC is very likely to be unreliable - so many results are personalised in so many ways by Google these days, that you just can't know whether the results you fetch direct from the same IP address as the one you do your regular Googling from won't affect the results. At the very least you need to run a proxy, but even then, results are different depending on what country, what state etc. you search from.

Supposing it's important for me to rank on page one for a search term that is mostly searched from California - you can rank in New York all you like, but you can be nowhere to be seen in California (I have a very similar situation). How do you know you are ranking in the geographic where you want to be?

Same goes for online trackers - how do you really know where they are getting their data from and where you are ranking? I have SERPS where I really CANNOT figure out where I am ranking because every different proxy, Google country site or rank tracker I try gives me a wildly differing result. It's not ALWAYS like that, but it's something to bear in mind.

FYI if you are a SquidProxies customer they have a hard time with rank tracking software for some reason. I used to hate ranktracker but as soon as I replaced SquidProxies with something more reliable it worked like a dream

I did my research and have been using MicroSite Masters for many months.

My only complaint is that they do not keep a good schedule of when they update keywords. Forget what they say and maybe look around 1-2 PM EST if you want the days results.

Some are updated earlier, and some don't even get updated on some days. Usually all get updated each day by 2 PM EST. I'm only tracking 130 keywords with them for my own sites, so this should not be a tough job. But since nobody is raving about many others, I guess they all have their issues.

And don't bother emailing them about this issue as they have NO customer support. If someone finds better, please let me know, but their ranking analysis of keywords is very good, so I stay for now.

I use Rank Checker Ace. You can keep track of unlimited keywords on unlimited amount of sites, and its always free.

The only draw back is that you can't copy paste a whole bunch of keywords to it, you have to add one by one. Although I have heard they are trying to make it easy for importing bulk keywords.

I found it a few weeks ago and I really like it. I would say its 99% accurate and works much better that many paid ones I have used before.

By the way, its on online tool, so you don't have to download a software to your desktop. So no slowing done your PC.
