Recommend a rank tracking tool

I've been using google webmaster tool so far for tracking my keywords, however as I'm getting to read more and more on the forums I'm seeing people post graphs that represent rank tracking.

Is there some defacto standard that most warriors use for rank tracking? and if so what would that tool be?

Thanks much

    • Rank Tracker is the best imo. Unfortunately its on the pricey side. You'll have to figure out how to get it yourself.

Its great because you can check google rankings over time and it graphs everything so you can see gradual improvement or not.

  • I like microsite masters. Best thing about it that I haven't found in any other rank track is that you can make notes of linkbuiling or content or whatever changes you made to a site and it'll note that no the graphs so you can see if your linkbuilding is actually paying off.

  • You can check out WebFire.com -- it has around 25 tools to get traffic, leads, ranking, exposure, etc., and one of them is a rank tracker to track all that stuff for you.

    • Thanks folks. Lots of great suggestions. I'll check some of these out
  • ranktracker.com has a free version that works fine. You only need to pay in order to have it track keywords long term. But if you check on a day to day basis, then it's completely free of charge.

another vote goes for ranktracker.com because it shows good information about a keyword and the free version in enough to work.

    • There are dozens of online tools that you can find and there is no standard for rank checkers, the one I'm using is rankranger.com and besides the fact that it is awesome, it is the only tool that i found that has different ranking systems, besides the regular count it can count duplicate rankings and specific landing pages which is perfect for me since we do reputation management for our customers and we need to track a specific page instead of root domain which most of the other tools supports.

try ranktracker dot com. they are the best. for checking SERP you can go for SEOSERP dot com. that't the best one.

  • Raven Tools rocks - ranking, backlink analysis, social media management, link management and more.
  • Rank Tracker (part of SEO SPYGLASS) is a very good and useful tool. It will help you to see all the info you want to understand very fast and accurate
  • You can use Rank Tracker or Serpfox. I have very good experience with these.
  • I use rankerizer and serpfox.

  • Personally I use serpbook , pretty accurate till now, but on the other side I do always manual check ups with related IP.
  • Sheerseo is great, $10 per month for 200 keywords. I'm not so keen on desktop ranking software.
  • Like TheProgrammer, I also use rankerizer to track rankings. It is a free tool and it also saves past rankings. Thus it is normally possible to compare. Please find a link below ( I have no affiliation to the site):

  • I tried serpfox and it looks good so far. I am also trying sescout but its numbers seem to be different from other ranking tools
  • I have been using rank tracker for a week and I really like it. I leave it open on my desktop with about 25 keywords and a few times a day I check my rankings.
  • Rank Tracker is doing good for me. Serpfox is also a good online tool.
  • URL for Rank Tracker? seems to be down...

    • +1 for Rank Tracker. I have multiple sites and run an SEO business.

By far the best solution for me to keep track of all the rankings.
  • good stuff here
  • Some of those mentioned above such as Microsite Master and Rank Tracker are great (Sescout used to be great but it seems to be having problem updating data these days)

However, A completely free Rank Tracker that can check up to 500 depth with unlimited sites and keywords (and with graph) would be SerpAttack. Though you'd better use proxy when checking many keywords (use Hotspot Shield free proxy). So rank tracking is free
  • Use seo spyglass rank tracker for track your website rank.
  • Sescout is a disaster now, so is SerpFox. Microsite Masters is the only good one left, I am convinced. I used to use easyseotracker because it was, well, easy, and cheap. But it is constantly offline, and completely unreliable now.

Some people recommended Cute Tracker or something like that, a downloadable program that crashes before you can even do any work. Do not recommend this.

A lot of the other ones are way, way too pricey, or way, way too confusing (Traffic Travis -- what?!?! I'm not an idiot, but I can't figure this one out.).

Anyway, for $50, I can track 700 keywords, get notifications, everything I could have asked for and more, with Micro Site Masters. I'm sharing this because I literally went though 20+ tracking services until I finally hit the gold mine.

    • I don't know what is best at this moment but I am using SEO Power Suite's Rank Tracker for ages now... and I don't want to change it also.
    • I feel the same way about Microsite Masters. I've used everything on the market and nothing compares to the the reliability, features, and price.
  • Usually I use Google Toolbar Pagerank function to check PR. I don't know which tool could be better than it, it's official, isn't it?
  • Frankly speaking I don't use any ranking tools to check my keywords because sometime tools doesn't gives you proper information about you ranking. I had used tools but not up to the mark that's I ignore tools.
  • webfire.com best to check the rank...
  • ranker tracker is best.
  • I've used probably ever rank tracker ever made. Currently I use seomoz, the seobook firefox plugin (rare though now), and a chrome/firefox unpersonalized plugin for quick spot checking of a single rank.

And then of course for daily rank tracking I now use serps.com, which used to be an internal tool for my own sites.
  • +1 for RDS in FireFox
  • I personally use SerpBook.com for my clients - it's light and efficient.
  • I'm not sure if people appreciate that any SERP tracker that runs off your own PC is very likely to be unreliable - so many results are personalised in so many ways by Google these days, that you just can't know whether the results you fetch direct from the same IP address as the one you do your regular Googling from won't affect the results. At the very least you need to run a proxy, but even then, results are different depending on what country, what state etc. you search from.

Supposing it's important for me to rank on page one for a search term that is mostly searched from California - you can rank in New York all you like, but you can be nowhere to be seen in California (I have a very similar situation). How do you know you are ranking in the geographic where you want to be?

Same goes for online trackers - how do you really know where they are getting their data from and where you are ranking? I have SERPS where I really CANNOT figure out where I am ranking because every different proxy, Google country site or rank tracker I try gives me a wildly differing result. It's not ALWAYS like that, but it's something to bear in mind.

  • I use SEO Powersuite Rank Tracker, and I am over satisfied. This tool provide result with graphical presentation. Here is a sample ranking report: http://seosoftwareservices.net/Sampl...g%20Report.pdf
You can also try SEScout, this is a web based rank tracker, but the price is a little high.
  • I use SERPAttacks. It's generally accurate although I like to double-check manually too.
  • +1 for MicrositeMasters
  • Yes I think ranktracker from SEO SPYGLASS and Rankchecker from SEOBook are really good. I am using rankchecker and its great to check ranking in various countries.

    • ranktracker from SEO SPYGLASS ??? Rank Tracker is a tool developed by Link Assistant, SEO Spyglass is another tool of them. Hope this is clear to you now.
  • I use SEO Powersuite which the RankTracker program bundled. In fact SEO Powersuite is an essential set of tools in my opnion.

FYI if you are a SquidProxies customer they have a hard time with rank tracking software for some reason. I used to hate ranktracker but as soon as I replaced SquidProxies with something more reliable it worked like a dream

I have also used SEScout which was terrible, avoid this at all costs!
  • Hi! I have done some research, Rank Tracker is the best so far. It will be better if the Pro version could export a report. Anyone using a Pro version here? How do you show the report to your customer?

    cheers,

    • I did my research and have been using MicroSite Masters for many months.

My only complaint is that they do not keep a good schedule of when they update keywords. Forget what they say and maybe look around 1-2 PM EST if you want the days results.

Some are updated earlier, and some don't even get updated on some days. Usually all get updated each day by 2 PM EST. I'm only tracking 130 keywords with them for my own sites, so this should not be a tough job. But since nobody is raving about many others, I guess they all have their issues.

And don't bother emailing them about this issue as they have NO customer support. If someone finds better, please let me know, but their ranking analysis of keywords is very good, so I stay for now.
    • I've said this a few times in this forum, raventools works really well-its 99 bucks a month though. Its great because it has reporting capabilities as well. Aside from that, id say seo for firefox works-its free. However, the rankings are somewhat inaccurate.
    • I thought I already posted on this thread, but I cant find my post. Do you want a free ranking tool or a paid one? There are great ones out there that are free-seo for firefox.. Paid ones id say sem rush, raventools, seo moz.

  • I've just started to use Rank Tracker SEO Power Suite lately, I checked some backlinks which are indexed on google, but they don't show up in the software. Can anyone help me explain ?

    Thank you
    • [1] reply
    • Hi! That is the part thats confusing. They all have their own way for indexing a page. So product A will not have the same results as product B

p/s - you should post this question to their support and see what they have to say

  • I usually use alexa and prchecker but from this post I found out that there are much better ways. thanks!
  • Thanks again guys for all the recommendation. I have settle for sescout free for now as i find it quite accurate and user friendly. The only complain i have is sometime it will go down or something and not showing the result. But cant complain much since its free ;p

    • I will try Sescout too, I can only find 2 backlinks with Rank Tracker which is pretty strange. I may do as your recommendation, contact the support for more information.

    • Hi! Thanks for chipping in. Could I ask whats a 'Managed links'? Does it mean different URLs but same Domain?
  • I use Rank Checker Ace. You can keep track of unlimited keywords on unlimited amount of sites, and its always free.

The only draw back is that you can't copy paste a whole bunch of keywords to it, you have to add one by one. Although I have heard they are trying to make it easy for importing bulk keywords.

I found it a few weeks ago and I really like it. I would say its 99% accurate and works much better that many paid ones I have used before.

By the way, its on online tool, so you don't have to download a software to your desktop. So no slowing done your PC.
