How effective is blog commenting in ranking a keyword?

Blog commenting it is a good way to increase the awareness of the site and get more referral traffic. choose the hot and new topic to leave comment. leave your comment at first or first page to increase the visibility of your links. don't use any stop words in the comment with simple sentence. understand which one is described by the author before leave your comment.

    • Yes blog commenting can be quite effective and can certainly give you good traffic as long as a lot people are able to view your comment. Also make sure that your comment is indeed relevant to that blog, so that you will not be considered as a spammer.

    • I usually try to mix it up. Some comments I'll use just anchor text (If I see that others have successfully done it), other posts I'll use my name + anchor text, others just names, etc.

      Basically just mix it up as much as you can.

  • To do blog commenting the correct way it is pretty simple, take time to read the blog post and when you make a comment make it relevant to what the post is about, do not make the mistake of just reading the title of the blog post to save time and making a comment just from that. Because most likely your comment may be a bit off topic and you risk getting your comment deleted or not approved.

  • Very dangerous in my opinion, if you're going to rely on it for future rankings.

    In most cases, one day the blog owner will decide that he/she is getting too much spam and slap a nofollow tag on all of the outbound links and all of your work gets wiped out in the click of a mouse.

    Focus on high quality guest posts.

    • Sorry, but you're kind of all over the place in this post. Depends on some issue? What issue? Use your keyword when you comment? Where? In the body? Name?
  • For traffic, it seems most effective to use you name and not put a link in the past.

    Since Panda and Penguin does the anchor test need to be varied? If bloggers don't like you using a keyword for your name, what do you use to vary the text?

    • I know this is going to be a lot harder than the usual, the best way is to find a place where you can use the anchor text in such a way that it would give value to the page where you're going to leave your link. It's part of the challenges of link building through blog comments.

  • Blog commenting is only good if you provide really usefule comments for the readers. And it should be something like "Thanks for sharing awesome info" or "Great info" etc.

    Try to give some more info about the content with your comment. So that it will attract user and this will get some visitor to your site.

  • yea i think also that you get traffic from commenting on blogs and this traffic tends to be interested in your niche as well. So that in addition to building page rank you're also getting more eyeballs onto your site.

  • I've been engaging in blog commenting for a while now. It seems to be very effective even after the penguin and panda updates.

    Make sure you use relevant anchor text. You also want to make sure your comment is longer than 2 sentences. Don't just say "Hey good article." That will be represented as spam and your comment could get deleted.

    • It's smart to diversify it though. Don't go 100% anchor text. Google seems to be targeting sites with obvious anchor text spam. So mix it up a little here and there.

  • I did quite a lot in terms of getting backlinks from blog comments, but it turned out it wasn't much of a success ... however, that was before Panda and Penguin... and I'm still not sure whether I want to try it again or not

  • Blog commenting can be effective so long as the content in the blogs closely matches your keywords and most importantly your comments are relevant.
  • We get quite a bit of traffic to our blog through blog commenting. Honestly, I don't even bother looking at whether or not it's no-follow or not...if I have something interesting to add, I add it. If I want to connect with the blogger, I'll leave a comment.

    If your comment is genuine, other readers and potentially the blog owner will end up checking you out!
  • As above, spamming lots of blogs with irrelevant or none valuable comments that do not contribute to the post offers no value at all. Whilst commenting on quality blogs and actually adding value to the post is good and will give you quality links that is good for your overall link profile.

    It's also helps to get direct, targeted traffic from the blogs themselves.
