The below experience is a test for one of my new sites, which has got a nice ranking position and high speed increase traffic. As a gift for what I have learned in warrior, I will share with all warrior members; hope it can offer you some useful tips.

The initial stage: site building
The overall structure of your site needs to be clean and clear without useless code. And the same for each part of your site structure, especially for navigation, all your settings must match to user experience, which is the most important thing.

For example, navigation should contain keyword, and can be easily recognized by site visitors. Besides, from the perspective of search engine and site visitors, horizontal structure is much better than vertical structure. So do not make your site has very deep structure.

The second stage: content adding
If your site is focus on a single produce or nice, you need to do keyword research first, choose some long-tail keywords with less competition and relatively search amount, and you can use Google keyword tool to analyze and choose.

If your site is not focus on a single product, take download site as an example, amount is the first thing, you need to add as many content as possible. In this way, after the index by search engine for those pages, you will find some of them have a pretty good ranking position. And then, focus on optimization of those keywords, in this way, the rise of ranking for those pages will the traffic and ranking position for the whole site. And here, I want to mention, a sitemap for your site is necessary since it can offer a complete and quick index, especially for big sites with many pages, new sites, and site update very often, and the sitemap tool I use is a free one but very powerful, it is SitemapX.

The next stage: out-site optimization
Out-site optimization mainly means backlinks, quality is more important than quantity! After, Panda Update, Penguins Update and so on serial algorithm update, the main focus in on backlink quality. And, what quality is? Natural and various! Do not use any black-hat way to get backlinks; do not use single backlink resource. Write one original high quality content and share in different places is much better than hundreds of junk links.

I do in the above way, now, I succeed; hope it also can help you! Glad to see your review or recommandations! Good luck!

Did you post your article in some articles submission sites? How some great sites like ezine, squidoo and hubpages that only accept unique article, one that is not submitted to another site, even your own site?

yeah, i also submit to article directories, but only to great ones, such as what you said, hubpages, squidoo... yes, those sites only unique article is acceptable, and unique article is somewhat time consuming, but it also worth doing it. since one article accept by such kind of sites will offer you a huge amount of traffic. Quality is much important than quantity, so you do not need to submit time and time again, you can submit one and then later days share it to different places, such as, twitter, facebook, bookmark, etc. your sharing will largely increase the explosure of your article, which is correspondingly with much more traffic.

Whatever the updates Google launches, importance of web directories is not going to lessen. In other words, web directories are never going to die

well, i don't mean web directories do not have any avail, but less than before. A research for 2678 web directories had been carried out, 94 of them are expelled, 417 had been punished. that is to say, search engine do not like web directories the same to before.

But, if you can link to some high weight and high relevant directories will certainly have good avail. but you need to pay for almost all high weight directories.

That is not so @blogworker. I have been doing web directories regularly since last so many years and I have been getting the links from what you call high weight and high relevant directories without paying for it and getting the benefits of it to a great extent.

And can you please tell me from where you have collected this research data..? Or, it's something hypothetical or you have written this data on your own..And if they are true then what about other 2167 directories that are working. That's enough to prove that web directories are still effective irrespective of Google updates.

The way I see it, some of them are even more worthless than ever - same goes for article directories.

In fact, most article directories and web directories have been manually disabled by Google on the back end so they don't pass any page rank at all.

The only problem is you really don't know which ones.

So the best way to look at it is ... does it have some editorial guidelines?

If it's a paid directory, will they publish any link? for example the Yahoo directory states that it won't publish all submitted links, and fee's are none refundable - seems harsh to me, but this is an editorial process Google probably looks for.

Directories that just publish links to any old site and don't appear to have editorial processes/guidelines that are followed will most likely be of no value and not pass any link juice.

Other than major directories like DMOZ, i'd be more inclined to not even bother with the majority of directories now.

Thank you for sharing some valuable information which will definitely help many of us to improve our site ranking. I think both on-page and off-page site optimization is necessary on a regular basis to make a website look fresh and interesting. Also, the content of your website plays a crucial role in popularizing your website.

I have tried same it did wonders for me but third section out-site optimization very imp. specially after penguin update make sure Anchor-Text with same keywords must not be used for on page and off page.

Tip - blogs posting, bookmarking and forums submission very effective for quick ranking.

What I say, many high weight and high relevant directories need payment, not mean all of them. I just mean, after our test, most of them need to pay. if you know some of them are useful and do not need to pay, that's pretty good. can you share with us?

and for the data, of cause, it was from a report online. I do not know why you think i write it by myself? what is the benefit to snare web directories for me? I just say about a tendency.
