Need Help With Turning Articles Into Audio and Submitting

So I want to take some of my articles, record them as audio and submit them to audio sharing or podcast sites.

But I'm not sure how this works.

Obviously I record myself reading the article as an mp3 file.

But after that I have a few questions:

1) Once I have the mp3 file what do I need to do?

2) What are the top 5 or 6 sites to submit it to?

3) The file will probably be only like 5 minutes long of reading a blog post or something. Can you upload something that short to podcast sites or are those only for people doing like 30 minute talk shows?

4) A lot of the audio sites I check out ask you to submit not an mp3 file but an RSS feed of your podcast. I am confused because all I want to do is make 5 minute mp3's of me reading my blog posts and upload the actual mp3 file I thought. So there is no RSS feed, just files to upload and then I guess add a description and tags.

Anyway can someone who does this please explain the process to me. Thank you very much for your help.

I only submit my videos to vimeo and youtube.

I make my videos with Camtasia/Camstudios. Basically they are a powerpoint presentation with my voice. You could also just turn the webcam on and talk and use that recording for your video.

Thanks so much for the response.

But I'm talking about the audio files. I already plan to make videos out of the audio and submit those and I know exactly how to do that. But taking just the audio and submitting that to podcast or similar sites, that's what I'm confused on how to do as I explain in the questions in the initial post.

I don't think you need more than YouTube. Just record them and put some attractive images and make a video. Its enough to get attracted by the visitors.
    thanks

Obviously you attract different visitors on podcast sites than video sites. I want to use both. I know how to do the video sites. But the podcast sites are confusing me. So again, this thread is my attempt to get answers about those sites. It can only help to put the content on those sites in addition to places like youtube.

There are really not a lot of WF members here who talk about this topic

I've brought up podcasting and submitting podcasts for traffic and SEO many times, and all of my threads die quickly.

I suppose it's the next thing for someone to master and share with the rest of us.

Exactly. Nobody seems to know anything about this. It's very strange. I've seen multiple people talk about doing it and even messaged some asking for advice. But still nobody responds or has any info on how to do it.

Yes definitely you are getting the success in it. Because nowadays audio & video replacing the text. So, definitely you are getting the benefit of it by doing its submission.

I haven't used it yet, but you might take a look at blogtalkradio.com. I believe it is free. Would love to hear back if someone tries it. And I'll post again once I've used it.

If you want to record regular, segmented bits of content then I suggest doing it under the podcast banner. I've had enormous success with podcasting for traffic and it's pretty easy to do once the system is set up.

One of the main places to get your podcast into is the iTunes store. It is free to do so, and can generate a lot of traffic if done correctly.

Here's how to do it pretty quickly:

      1. Take your recorded audio (dress it up if you can with some music etc)

      2. Get some artwork for your podcast (artwork is like an album cover. The latest specs required by iTunes is 1400 x 1400 pixels)

      3. Upload your file and artwork to a podcast hosting site like Buzzsprout (get the paid plan otherwise they delete your eps after a few months!! Yikes!!).

      4. Get the RSS feed that they generate for you and submit it to the iTunes store under "podcasts", "submit a podcast"

You can also submit your RSS feed to the Zune directory, Stitcher ( a new podcast app) etc.

The thing is, make sure the content is informative but also well presented. Straight content dumps won't work and won't generate a decent audience.

      Good luck!
