Webmaster Tool Lies?

When I go to my webmaster tool it tells me my average position for that keyword is 170 but when i go to soeserp.com and check my serp I am no where to be found how is this?

  • Webmaster Tools uses the Average position for the most part.

    We use an iPad to check SERPS using "SEO Ranking" app, and even it's not perfect, but it does give a good guage, then using the results from the app you can then use to go to a site such as:

    Hide my ass

    And manually check the keywords you are interested in.

    This. Is the method we use for all our clients, we in fact advise them to buy the SEO Ranking app, it's like .99p, feedback has been positive since that procedure was put in place.

    We have an app in development that makes the procedure transparent, but it is still a couple of months away.

    Your confusing slow data updates with lies.

    Not the same things.

    GWT has always been slow about updating data, nothing new.
