Sandbox Question

If Bing show my site ranking for a KW at #6 and Google is 100+ I figure that is a sure sign I got slapped. Correct?

So if this is the case do I still build links or quit? I did start building non optimized links to diversify KW's and tried to add some higher PR links but nothing has worked yet.

Thanks

  • 1. The term "Google Slap" refers to getting banned from AdWords which was a common thing a few years back and it has nothing to do with organic rankings.

    2. Google and Bing have completely different algorithms in a sense how they rate sites, and have no bearing on each other's search results.

    3. "Sandbox" refers to a widespread opinion that newly built sites are placed on some kind of a probation with google before they are ranked in SERPs which isn't true.

    • 1. I didn't say Google slap but to put it another way my rankings fell

      2. I know Google and Bing are not the same

      3. I didn't say anything about "sandbox"

If I'm ranking well in Bing but not Google I assume that I did something wrong. I admit I used only 2 or 3 KWs. Recently I added a whole bunch of new links with different anchor texts to add variety. It has not helped. I also ran a in depth onsite SEO audit and fixed any problems I found. I also added some higher PR links PR2-4. In addition I built some Web 2.0 and blasted them with links. So what now? Wait or continue to build links?

      Thanks
    • Question, you weren't always #6. So what did the
former #6 do to get in the sandbox? Or maybe it
was because at that moment in time, your site
was better? If people put "sandbox" into
perspective, they may actually come to a logical
      conclusion about any sandbox.

Add to this that there are literally thousands of people
vying for tops spots at any given moment. Do they
all get a chance, or is google stuck on the same old
      results, over and over?

Penalties from google are normally counted with one
      digit--a de-index.

  • Oh come on, You are not slapped by Google. You have to understand that they are different search engines with different results of course.
