I'd suggest you to do not use hyphens. Domains with no hyphens looks more natural to Organic visitors.

Why not get both of them? But if you must get just one get the COM.

I would definitely grab the first one. best-blahblah.com looks so dumb in my opinion.

Not to say I don't have sites that are blahblahHQ.com and they make some $

I would always go with dot com, as I've found dot nets are not as widely "accepted" (lower click rates) in my experience.
