Who can tell me how this website is ranking #2 on page 1?

Hi all,

I am looking at this website; it ranks #2 on the first page of Google and when I analyze it with sitetrail I have not seen anything else like this.

I do not want to put the url out on this thread as I believe it to be a website of a member here on the forum however I don't remember who it was (otherwise I would have asked that person directly).

I am somewhat new and I am really curious to find out more about this so that I can learn more about how ranking and SEO can be approached as I start to build my own sites. I do not yet have enough posts to PM yet if you are interested in finding out what the site is and how they are ranking #2, you can send me a PM or contact me via skype.

I think that whoever looks at this site might also stand to benefit as the website owner appears to be using a unique way of getting such high rankings that I haven't seen or heard about yet on the forum. Alright, thanks everyone for your time!

      There are some strange instances of sites ranking well for odd queries these days though.

  • I don't want to post the url, and if it were my site, I would appreciate someone not drawing extra attention to what I am doing, which is just the same courtesy I am trying to provide to the site owner. Hope everyone understands.

    Often when things are not explainable, as in a brand new site at a high spot with hardly any backlinks then they are doing a 301 redirect from an old domain and pass on all the linkjuice.
  • @nik0, thanks for the explanation, I think that is definitely a possibility however looking at the sitetrail stats for this website it seems like there is definitely something else going on. I don't mean to be vague here as I already said, I just am trying not to blow up whatever someone else may be doing that's working for them.

    • We can't analyse it without the URL.
      But site age could be a factor.
      Also it's probably a low comp keyword

  • @Black thanks, however as I said earlier, as much as I actually just want to provide the URL right now since I still haven't gotten a full reply yet about the site, I am trying to do this without blowing up another fellow IM-er's spot.

    Also, I don't think 'fat loss for women' is a low competition keyword, or maybe I'm wrong.
  • If you want to improve your site than you must follow the following things:
    1.Content of the site must be unique.
    2.Keywords and title must be suitable and relevant.
    3.Back links created must be of high quality so that Google will not spam them.
