Duplicate content question

Im having a website with great information on it,( wiki like) so another website has asked me if he could use some information sometimes on his news items.

In return I get backlinks, but now Im wondering will such thing hurt my rankings because their will be duplicate content that way?

    It'll not be considered as duplicate if he use your link as source.

    Last time, I read an article that deals about this topic. I don't think it will hurt your ranking. Yahoo, MSN, and lot more have done that lot of times untill today. I will manage to share the article with you.

    Well you are still going to be the original source of the content, but I would still say no. That is because the backlinks aren't going to be that high of value anyway, it is better to keep your content totally unique in my opinion if you can, and with all the changes Google is doing it is best to play safe.

    Let me explain better. You basically saying if someone can use your content on there site? if so this isn;t much of a problem as google knows which site the content came from. The better solution would be to tell them to rewrite them or you offer to rewrite it. This gives you a more powerful links pointing at your site. Just think of it as article marketing sending the same article to multiple sites, the links still count but count for way less then sending a unique article to every article directory.

    Wikipedia has lots of duplicate contents from different sources. It will definitely not hurt your site. In fact, with a link back you have so much to gain from someone who will use your contents.
