So, a few months ago, I went on the Keywords Tool and found out that BlackTarSideEffects.com was available. (It's not Black Tar for real, but some other drug).

"Black Tar Side Effects" has 27,000 exact local searches a month and CPC is $7.

When I looked at the SERPs back than, it had a lot of MNS ranking high; So, wth, I'll buy the EMD. If all else fails I thought, maybe I can flip the domain name.

But now, Google did a good job of clearing out those MNS and putting only authority sites on the first page. Uhh ohhh.

Eh, who cares, I'm gonna try to rank for it anyways. I haz good SEO.

Plan:
-After reading lots of stuff about Black Tar I'm gonna make a large 25+ page site about it.
-Main articles would be written by me and side articles would be outsourced to some quality, none ESL writers.
-Going to do a lot of MANUEL High PR Do Follow backlinks to the site.
-Going to add the site to MicroSite Masters to see what's working and what's not.
-Going to make ~33% of anchors URL, ~33% generics, and ~33% phrase/exact.

Either this is gonna be a HUGE success where I'm gonna be rolling in dough or it's gonna be a huge FAIL since I might be bighting more than I can chrew.

Day negative 15: about 2 weeks ago, I made an about us, privacy, T&C, and contact page for this site as well as a two sentence blog post saying "coming soon".
Day 0: Microsite Masters says that I'm on page 6 for the exact keyword right now.
Day 0: Going to do some more keyword research to find which keywords I should target for the articles. Also gonna decide which ones I'm gonna outsource and which ones I'm gonna write myself.

No journal threads so be prepared to be deleted.

Anyhow, seems like the top 10 have different criteria to rank and haven't seen any discussions on changes that may be needed to rank now a days. When I say changes, I'm referring to top 10 competition analysis.

Anyways, this sounds like a good test... If thread lasts lol.

Week 1: Site is #22 for 27,000vol keyword and #22 for a secondary 9,000vol keyword
    • Made about 15 pages so far. Each page ranges from 500 to 2,000 words--I didn't have a target length, I just wrote until I got my message across. All had 2+ pics w/ captions and whatnot.
    • Made G+, Twitter, FB pages
    • Did a G+ blast to each page (like 50 pluses)
    • Did a whois blast, I think only a handful were actually successful, like 400?
    • Did a blast of wiki, web 2.0, and social bookmarking to each page. About 800 found links? None of this was pinged and all the backlinks were generics.
    • Did about 4 hours of manual link building on PR4-6 dofollow pages (not domains). Almost all backlinks were generics or URLs and only like 10 were of the keyword.
Right now, site is getting ~10 visitors a day.
