search phrase conundrum

Hi all

not sure if this is supposed to go in this section, if not mods please move.

I am starting a website to sell a service and I have spotted a search phrase that gets thousands of "exact" searches (about 60,000) a month which I can easily dominate because the competition is really weak.

Problem is this search phrase is not 100% perfect for the service I am selling. lets say the search phrase I have found is "unblock drains" but the service is "up to date list of local plumbers"

Should I:

a> set-up money site using unblockdrains.com, free organic traffic from Google will make up for the vague and less relevant site name

b> create the site using a completely original domain name and focus all my efforts on promoting brand new site

c> create money site using a new name and create an article blog on unblockdrains.com that links to the money site.

hope that makes sense....

Any advice about this situation gratefully received

thanks

  • My advice is to stick with your original plain.

Keep the main keyword you have. Stick with the domain you planned for.

I don't know if this is a authoritative site or a sales page.

If it is an authoritative site, make another page with the keyword you want. Try to get that page to rank for that keyword.

If it is a sales page, write an article for that key word and have you link to your main site at the bottom. Submit that page to the major article directory's.

    Hope this helps

    • You mean go for unblockdrains.com because it has 60,000 exact search matches a month even though its not ideal for the business and make up for it by using back links targeted to the keywords most relevant to my business?

business will be a sales site BTW
