definitely it is still very effective after penguin. It is also used in making link pyramids. Submit your link to pr2+ bookmarking sites.

I mainly use social bookmarking to index new sites or links, works well for me. You will struggle to rank a keyword just using social bookmarking on its own though

Social Bookmarking still effective in seo field. Yes that right 80% Social Bookmarking sites are no follow, only 20% sites provide back links and traffic also for site. I would like share my personal experience here, I am using Social Bookmarking site every time for client project. I have never thought about backlinks via SB. I have used SB for quick indexing in google and other search engines. And another reason is Google now count social profile links. Thanks

Sure it's still effective. It has always been. Just like directory submissions. But you need a diversed backlink profile, only bookmarks can work for low competition keywords but for more competitive ones you need more diversity.

They are also great to boost other backlinks and to help get stuff indexed. I'm talking about mass submission here.

Social bookmarking is one of the way which you get backlinks to your site as you said from some bookmarking sites we can get good referral traffic. SB is really helpful to get faster index, and even the links from SB are nofollow, still they can be counted as backlink to your site and by getting few nofollow links likewise, you are making your link building process as "natural" which Google recommends a lot.

However, it is very wise not to stick with one single link building method, you have to spread your resources over other link building methods too.

Still effective. Just carefully build a list of high PR and traffic flooded social bookmarking sites. You would get

1- Good SEO result
2- Good amount of traffic
3- Social appearance increase chance to familiar people with your brand and products easily
4- More social appearance increase sales leads.

there are lots of more benefits. but these are some best reasons why we do social bookmarkings. But remember social bookmarks within Hi PR and traffic worthy sites can provide you your desired results. There are lots of crappy social bookmarking sites which are created just to do spam. So you need to find a good list of social bookmarking sites.

There are only few social bookmarking sites that has value for me like Digg, StumbleUpon, Reddit, Delicious and Jumptags. I don't bookmark my sites to low PR social bookmarking sites.

I use BMD and like it. Bookmarks wont do much by themselves but they are great if you combine them with a couple of other types of links.

Ive found the key is to mix up the bookmarks you use for each site. Instead of trying to add 200 of the same bookmarks to each page try using 30-40 different bookmarking sites for each page. Of course you want to use the biggest bookmarking sites the most.

In 2012, Social Bookmarking has relatively little link power, compared to a good juicy contextual link on a high authority blog. Many bookmarking sites are nofollow, and from the ones that are dofollow, many of those have very little trust/authority. So many bookmarking sites, especially Pligg sites, for example, appear and disappear so quickly. It's really not sustainable to rely on bookmarking as a sort of link that will get you ranked for any keywords, really.

I ONLY use social bookmarking and I rank my keywords on the first page less than a week. I use OnlyWire. However, bare in mind that these are low competition keywords. It could be a different story with a higher competition keyword.

I don't even use google keyword tool at all. I find what's the trend, or what I BELIEVE will be a trend and I go for that keyword. Google keyword tool allocates data maybe a month or so afterwards and tells your the local monthly searches. What I do is I go for keywords BEFORE google keyword tool figures all that out. So it is a hit or miss, but usually I go for the hit.

Yes, social bookmarking is effective for our website but only who have high page rank and quality social bookmarking site because if you doing low quality, low page rank bookmarking site than after some time you can check your backlink site than that site may be will be not open, domain expire, ya some other critical issue that's why i'm suggest to you...........
