I have read that by submitting your RSS feed(s) to rss "directories" you will get virtually instant backlinks...

Is this true?

Could you help do some research, figure out how many backlinks you currently have, submit to these RSS sites, and then report back if your backlinks have increased?

      I have seen huge Rss lists, where the majority of them don't work...

      Are 90+% of the links in all of them link directories above working + Genuine, and useable/submitable ? (with many NOT being dead links)...

      and do they require registration?

      I once had a list and the major of them were weak and not working

  • Another great list of traffic ideas.

    I've been using and loving RSS for some time. I don't know if they are instant, though I think many are as they read your feed right away.Never check on it. I do know it gives link backs. I love it because it gives me link backs to deeper pages, pages that might not normal see much link back juice.

      What do you do? What kind of site do you need to get real benifits out of rss?

  • One clarifying note, I noticed you listed the PageRank for the aggregator sites but the PageRank of the RSS aggregator is not relevant. The backlinks you get are from websites that pickup your RSS feed to use as content for their websites, so that is where the PageRank will be passed.

  • Thanks for the list. RSS is such a funny thing. I think the reason that so many are not reporting is that it is still enigmatic to most people. They just kinda submit it and hope that it gets a backlink. No one really chases it to see the results.

    Which one will bring me links because I've been submitting the feedburner feed but I'm suspecting that it won't get me links if I do that...is that true?..

  • It is good information that you have given but how can we be assured about the instant back links. Back links are build up over a certain period of time but not instantly I believe.

    I'm very new to IM and all that, but from what I gathered most people use RSS to get the sites where they post backlinks indexed asap.

    You can use links2rss.com - compile a list of urls that you want to submit/index quickly and then covert them, 10 - 20 at a time, to an RSS feed. You then submit this RSS feeds to the lists mentioned previously in this thread.

    In that case, shouldnt you have a link in the body of the article to get benefit?

  • To answer your question...no...this will not give you instant backlinks. First, your submission has to be accepted and then made available to the public. Then, individuals browsing the directories will have to grab your feed and put it on their site. Next, assuming the feed is added to a website using PHP or the like, you will begin to gain backlinks after search engines slowly find them, provided they are not added to the hosting sites using Java. Don't expect some surge of backlinks or traffic. Sorry. But it is definitely still worth doing long term.

  • Indeed submitting your RSS feed is a reasonable thing. We run a little modified directory of RSS feeds FREE RSS Directory - RSSRES - share your feeds. It provides a listing for your feed address, and also your site address. It's got some reasonable traffic flowing through it, because it's FREE, and no ads on there.

  • Submitting your RSS Feed to RSS directories can get it syndicated to at least a hundred other sites which can greatly generate more traffic to your own site and backlinks. It is a good way to get your site quickly indexed in the search engines. Also, try to ping your feed using pingoat and re-ping everytime you create a new post.
