Page Rank 9, too good to be true?

Hi all,

I think I may have made a silly mistake

For one of my websites, I purchased a backlink at

INTERNATIONALAIRPORTCARSTORAGE(.)COM

How can this be a Page Rank 9 website?

Nothing is showing up when I do site:domain.com

Should I ask for my money back immediately?

I didn't do proper research before my purchase of the link

and I'm worried I may have made a stupid error.

Is there any reason to have a backlink on that website?

How can I tell if it is real or not?

when all the page rank checkers say it is.

Try info:domainname.com and also check backlinks. Little to know backlinks can indicate fake pr. Ahref.com or seomoz open site explorer

I have made a similar mistake in the past. If you could get your $$$ back than I would def do it.

Personally, I would just chalk it up as a lesson learned. Judging by all the misc. "content" on that site your link might be the only relevant one there...

Thanks, I've asked for a refund - it's on ebay so I said

Your site will not give me any link juice as it appears not to be listed by google

provide me with a refund and we both go our seperate ways and keep our good reputations

As the last poster said,

If it appears too good to be true, it probably is!

Always research properly beforehand (I knew that already and still let it happen!)

Here are some SEOMoz/Majestic stats of that site:

Page Authority: 21 -- -- -- --
Page MozRank: .69 -- -- -- --
Page MozTrust: 1.34
Citation Flow: 12
Trust Flow: 25

Definitely not a pr9 in any way. Slightly amazed about the high Trust Flow compared to the other stats though.

UPDATE:

I got a refund.

He said - well, we put our customers first so we will refund you

Even though he refunded me as I asked, I'm tempted to put a negative feedback in ebay saying.

If you put your customers first, then why do you sell fake links?

You most definitely should leave negative feedback. Imagine how many other buyers won't come on WF to ask if the PR is real or not. Scammers are absolute scum. I would contact eBay, if I was you.

A tip off is the PR9. Why people fake PR9 is crazy. Why not
fake a more palatable one like PR5? PR9 sites are few
and far between. They are well known and can be found by
a simple google search.

A tip off is that the site is either not found on google, just the
domain is, and it's not in the google cache.

A true PR9 site, (READ: SITE) would be worth millions.

The site could be hit by Google Penguin. links:INTERNATIONALAIRPORTCARSTORAGE.COM returns 19900 results, so there obviously was a good site there that google put some authority to until recently.

It's pretty simple. If they are not asking for at least several thousands of dollars per month for a link, it's not real. You do not even have to bother with checking the links, the domain age, any of that crap. If they are selling a link on a PR 9 page cheaply, it is not real. You cannot get PR 9 links for bargain prices.

It's a mystery to me how they fake the page rank.

Looks like this ebay seller bought the domain on DP a few months ago.

The original seller of the domain was selling another (fake) PR9 domain name for approx $900.

I found the thread.

You can easily see how they make money - buy fake PR9 site for $900

Sell 100 links on ebay in a short time before someone outs them @ $35 per link

= $3500

= $2600 profit

And allot of wasted money for the people like me who fall for it initially.

I think the site is hit by google like many others and this is a potential risk even for you as well. Your site might get penalised as well for linking with a spam/suspected spam site!!! I have seen that recently.

I have run some check on this site and found - alexa rank is 705,299, pr 0!!!

Looks like some scumbag is selling dodgy stuff online! Beware!!!

I found cekpr.com is one of the great sites to check page rank. I use it quite often. try this.

Hi Alty. The webpage that you are referring to does not have any pagerank. It has a pagerank (N/A). Sorry to say..but you have been duped !!
My advice for future is : Don't just run after pagerank. Indeed, run after the relevancy and quality of the page you are trying to build links with. Hope that helps !
