I doubt your monetization method has any impact on your rankings. I mean Adsense sites might be lower quality and have lower quality backlinks on average, but any lower rankings caused are from those points and not the fact that it was optimized for Adsense.

Addition: If you are talking SEO optimization then of course it could have an adverse effect. Particularly if you overused anchortext, but that's hardly optimizing for adsense.

Lately we did some testing with Amazon and Adsense monetizing, 6 weeks after that we builded links so it's pretty safe to assume that those already kicked in, and yes after that 6 weeks the keyword moved to the middle of page 1. We waited 2 weeks.

At that time we had:

- 1 Amazon 300*250 banner
- 2 Amazon 468*80 banner

Amazon turned out to convert poor for us so we changed it to:

- 3 large Adsense txt blocks of 336*300 or 250

Our rankings dropped to page 3, keep in mind we didn't add any links for 8 weeks total.
Then it still converted bad and we decided to change it to:

- 1 Adsense 300*250 Visual
- 1 Adsense 468*80 Visual banner
- 1 Amazon banner somewhere at the bottom of the page (the site looked nice again)

Not a week later we moved up to #1

Coincedence, I don't know, we didnt change anything else then the type of Ad placements but I did find it real awkward.

Another thing that I noticed in the past:

- 2 similiar keywords, one monetized with 1 link to Clickbank, the other page had 8 Amazon affiliate links. The clickbank page ranked at page 1 easily, the Amazon page stayed behind at page 3. After the Penguin, the clickbank page maintained it's rankings, the Amazon page dropped to page 8.

Take it as you like but I think the way of monetizing definitely has an impact on your rankings.

Google will lower your rank of an Adsense optimized site if you have too many blocks which lowers your onpage SEO score which goes contrary to the Adsense messages you'll get about adding more blocks to your site because you are missing out on earning opportunities.

What about Amazon? I currently have like 8 little buy buttons on my homepage...

If there are 2 relevant sites with similar content on it and one has adsense and the other not, then I bet the one with adsense get better rankings.

There wouldn't be all thing similar with 2 sites, there must be slight difference and Google understand this thing.

I don't think so. As long as you have good content and backlinks, Google will like your website with or without adsense.

The reverse case is true: If you put in to much adsense and/or other ads then you rank will drop.

I kinda cheated on the keyword search only because I didn't want to keep looking for an example. On my own Adsense sites I simply search for my keyword (ex: car insurance (not my keyword)) with no quotes or site:.

I didn't scale the image down so you could still read all of the highlighted Adsense text in the right sidebar.

The keyword phrase is "coin operated pool table" site:info

The Adsense text that Google Search highlighted is "Find Pool Tables for Sale! Great Selection at Low Prices. Buy Now". They also highlighted some other plain text on the web page.

Google does not care if the website has AdSense or Adwords... It simply use its own criteria for ranking pages. There is no doubt that AdSense websites are strongly optimized and that too in a positive way so as to make more money. This is the reason, these websites may rank high than non-AdSense websites.
