the estimable businessmen and women at realinsurance.com.au have been paying SEO companies to spam the comment sections of sites around the globe. But now Google's new search algorithms are making that legacy spam really damaging. So now they're sending out cease and desist notices to the victims of their earlier spamming demanding that they search their archives and remove their spam.
So much of these letters are going around.
I've gotten quite a few of them since I have an abandoned, outdated PR5 forum that has been spammed to hell and back. In addition to killing off the forum, they've probably killed the domain itself. There's literally thousands of spammy links pointing at profile pages and forum posts in an effort to create 'tiers' and 'linkwheels'.
