How I Save Money On Domains

Maybe a lot of you already do this, but I thought I'd share it for those that don't know.

I simply signed up for an account at Fatwallet, and I use their codes to get discounts on godaddy and I sometimes get cashback on top of using the codes. I've found coupons for .coms for as low as $0.99.

Also if you buy a lot of domains, Godaddy has a Discount Domain Club that you can sign up for which can save people money as well.

I think on average, our domains are costing a little over $6.

I'm not affiliated with Godaddy at all... honestly I think their hosting is garbage, I go with Bluehost - but Godaddy has the cheapest domains! If anyone knows a better deal out there, feel free to share it.

Cheers!

Godaddy also runs tricky sales from time to time that you can use if you fiddle with their shopping cart system.

For instance, if you buy a .com they'll often give you a discount on the .info. So you add a .com to the shopping cart, then go back and bulk add tons of .infos (getting the discount for all of them) and then simply remove the original .com domain from the cart... do it right and you'll still get the discount for all those .infos.

Interesting. I've never thought about that before. I know that if Godaddy is having a current day sale, then you can still buy it through fatwallet and still get cashback on top of the current sale.

Very curious idea. I would definitely try it. Sounds like something that would be good to use. Thank you for a good advice.

Another tip I would add from myself (about GoDaddy Domains). It is not 0.99 site, but if you enter into Google 'GoDaddy Deals" or "Go Daddy Deals" on top of the search you will see an official Google Ad from GoDaddy with 2.95 or 3.95 price tag Click the link and you will get into GoDaddy site with Cookie that would allow you to buy at least 1 Com site this day with this price. Some days I was able to buy 3-4 sites with this price and then the price was going up. You always can come back the next day though and do it again.

Not 0.99 Com Site, but is it still good money-saver and works almost every day.

Mosa, do you only register domains or do you make them private as well? I learned the hard way to make all of mine private registration. Yeah it costs more but worth it in the long run.

I don't do private registration. I just don't see a reason to pay the extra $. There are plenty of plugins that can assist with protecting domains.

I might have to take these tips on securing cheaper domains in consideration. I know Go Daddy really is one of the best for buying domains. I myself have been moving some of my hosting elsewhere, just like other people.

Yea, Godaddy's hosting system was a real pain in the ass when we tried them out a few months back. With BlueHost we get hosting at $3.95 per month for unlimited domains, and they're much easier to use.

Thanks for the tips! However, I don't like GoDaddy at ALL. I've found to be highly unprofessional in some areas. Overall bad experience.

Hey Mosa, thanks for this info. I try and look for coupon codes usually, for namecheap... they are not the cheapest around... I do see many domain name deals from time to time but be careful once your term is over as transferring names can be a B**** with some companies. Hope all is well.

For hosting we've been using Bluehost, but lately they seem to have discontinued their discount... so this might change things, I haven't decided yet.

I agree with you on fatwallet coupon codes!
Godaddy is great in my opinion. I use it to buy domains and i always use a coupon to get them for $8.17 just search google and theres always deals on them. I use Hostgator to host all my domains. The process is really easy for me and i have not had any problems at all.

    Cooler1,
I usually renew 20 domains at a time. Go daddy usually sends a 20 percent off coupon around the time my domains are due for renewal. I always call in and just tell the sales rep, I need you to do better because I have a lot of offers that have come in offering better pricing to take my domains elsewhere. They always say just a moment and them come back to the phone with about $100 bucks taken off the price. I think the key is to be cool with your sales rep on the phone. Don't sound overly threatening to your sales person when you call in, just speak rather matter of factly that their price seems a little high and that you may have to consider other options unless he thinks he can help you out. If the sales person is too green to play ball, hang up and call later until you get a sales guy who needs commission and is not gonna let any domains get away.

    Good luck!
