I just made my first sale on Amazon!

WOW! So I got into Amazon about a week and a half ago and I made my first sale with an average of 20-25 unique visitors a day (HUGE POTENTIAL)! I did no backlinking except social bookmarking (OnlyWire), and using the plugin pingler.

I provided a 350 word article review with low competition. But what I do is I continually add new content regarding to that niche every day. I learned a lot from Wolfmmiii the past week(s). I don't ever look at the Google Keyword tool anymore. I just go for items that I think will sell and have a low competition. Regardless if that keyword/product will get anywhere from 2-10 traffic a day; that's still traffic that can make a sale. If I build on with an authority site with 50-100 articles with a lot of low competition, then the traffic would increase, which can also increase on my conversions.

Honestly, I was really close to giving up Internet Marketing. Just because I felt like I had no direction, I felt lost with the "Penguin, Panda, etc." updates. But now I'm having a lot of fun just by having a strong game plan/strong direction. I provide content that people will want to see, and enjoy. And that's it. I've stepped away from any paid automated service (not saying they don't work), but for me at least, I'm a lot happier with the way I run my online business now.

When I see a sale like this, it just makes me want to keep on going! Build up and up and up! Don't stop! The goal is for me and for anyone else to just stay consistent, keep it even keel, and don't look back!

Anyways, I just wanted to share my experience. Peace!

I am glad this gave you some inspiration, my advice would be to stick with one thing. So focus all your energy in your amazon store and you will have fun beating your commissions each month.

Absolutely. My goal is to have at least 3 different sites each with 50-100 articles.

I'll mix it up once the income grows so I won't put all my eggs in one basket!

How do you determine "low competition"?

Go download SEO quake for mozilla (it's free). The way I do it is I type in the keyword/product in Google and see the results. If it's less than 50,000 results I go for it and if the top 10 pages are PR 0 or N/A (this is where SEO quake comes in handy). Along if the keyword isn't in the title, and the description.

Congrats on your first sale. Targetting low competition products sounds good because it eliminates the hassle of backlinking, but im wondering is it a long term strategy. Once the product gets a bit older, I gather you'd need to start backlinking to stay on page 1.

I was outsourcing but now I like my writing better. However, someone made a good comment that time is money. And writing takes a lot of that time, when I could be doing a lot of other things to expand/scale up.

    Good stuff.

Amazon sites are the easiest way to make the first few bucks online. A friend of mine built 3 ****ty mini sites with a few amazon links and made over 20 sales in the first month just like that... Sadly after a few months he decided that $40/month wasn't worth his time and killed the sites. He should have kept going, IMO.

I'm going to say this (been there): when it comes to making a full time living online, there's almost no difference between amazon and adsense mini sites. And by the I mean the effort/work required. Making that jump from $50/month to $2000+ monthly is going to be extremely difficult. Scaling is going to be a total bitch, so be smart and persistent.

    Good luck!

      That is good advice....

But it is fairly easier to make £2k a month... you just need to find the right products :-)

Congratulations! When I was making about $50 in Amazon for my first month in April, I thought of leaving the site as it is and go do other things. However I remember people say that once you found something that work, just scale it up, so I decided to bring in more traffic to my site and my earnings keep on increasing month after month as you can see from attached.

There are still 2 more weeks to go and I'm already pass the $400 mark, I hope to do about $1000 per month for my site before moving on to create my next website. Let us all work towards the goal of getting out from the stupid rat race!

By the way, I have also learned a lot from wolfmii, thanks!

You put 4-5 posts a day? Woah. Okay cool. So I don't need to do only 1-2 a day. I thought it would "better" that way. It really doesn't matter then huh?

And nice, you gained 7k in a month with 40 keywords/products/posts?

Haha nope, not 4-5 posts a day, it is 4 to 5 days then one post. In the beginning, I would try to post at least 1 to 2 posts per day and after abt 2 months, I tend to slow down a little bit.

Another thing is that I would mixed my post a little bit which means not all posts are reviews, some are just helpful tips and guides with no affiliate link at all. It will also help in bringing more traffic to my site as well.

Interesting...Do you think Google will hate the fact that all your posts have reviews and all of them have affiliate links? Could a site like that could possibly be flagged or lose its rankings?

Regarding about this questions, I am not 100% sure but I think it should be fine with all posts having reviews since all affiliate links should be a "nofollow". However I may be wrong. So far I am having a mix for my site and I did not see any lost in the ranking.

That's very good from one site. Just wondering, what is your backlinking strategy for your site? Now that penguin is out, it seems unclear as to what backlinks cause the penguin filter to trigger.

My goal is to have at least 100 product reviews per Amazon niche site. I'm looking at a total of 4 to 5 websites. I'll see how I do. None of this is done with any type of backlinking strategy. Just good content and nothing to "schmooze" Google as Paulgl would say.

      That's he spirit!

It's kind of funny, but 2-3 months from now the techniques you use will seem a bit funny and kinda backwards - that's real world experience kicking in.

I had a £391 (with a few pence) Adsense day yesterday (best day ever), and it's not even my main income source. Keep going bro. If you can keep this up, sky truly is the limit.

My advice for you right now would be to keep going - use that momentum that you've built up to your advantage. Otherwise, about a week from now, you'll be dealing with a full on emotional roller coaster when the excitement wears off and the reality kicks in. Been there as well.

I have a link or two in most articles. The only time when I don't leave a direct aff. link is when I do "summary" posts with tons of links to reviews/other articles that do have aff. links.

Not sure if you're using this strategy, but look up "cornerstone pages". The same (modified) concept can be easily applied to product sites.

Ha! You read my mind. I just started doing that.

Like if I have products from "Sony"

I'll have a page on "Sony" with a summary and then I'll have a bunch of links that lead to anything that is Sony (Sony Laptop, Camera etc.).

I'll let you know when it's $1,000/month! I'm already close to $100 with just from the two sales =X.

I use DIY themes. I use one image to the left of the content, and two link texts. No widgets whatsoever.

Congrats on the first sale! It's a joyous feeling when you first realise that IM actually can work.

You sound like your definitely on the right track - I really like your attitude of building sites for the users rather than the search engines, and I think this is definitely the way forward.

You're off to a great start so try to continue to ride that momentum - but be aware that there will probably be days and weeks which are tough and were you'll feel like you want to give up again. But be persistent and you'll muddle through to the good days again. It's all about persistence.

You've a great attitude, so just keep up the good work and keep on providing that quality content that everyone loves so much!
