what does it mean?

When I am in google webmaster i have many external links to my site from serveral domains, the number keeps growing from time to time. They have been there for weeks. However when I google with link:mydomain is get zero results?

It takes a long time for search engines to catch up with everything. Don't be surprised if the statistics never match up. I'm not sure what you mean about your domain getting zero results.
