Where to put the Squeeze page?

Let's say I want to put up a squeeze page and let say I have a blog in the same niche. Could it then be a good idea to put it on a subdomain of the domain where this blog is?

I've read somewhere that the best thing is to have the squeeze page on it's own domain. What's your thoughts on that?

Is it easier to get traffic if I put it on it's own domain?

In terms of traffic, maybe it's better to put it as a subdomain to the blog or into a subdirectory as the blog would be much more rich of keywords.

Well, I'm not sure which the best, so any suggestions would be great.

a sub directory is probably smarter.

I don't see why a single page needs its own domain or subdomain. It probably wouldn't do very well by itself for lack of content/links.

If you're planning to drive paid traffic from Adwords, Adcenter or the likes I would recommend you put it on a subdomain of your content rich site (domain). That way when the PPC bot look at your site they won't see just a single bridge page on a domain, but an optin page on a content rich domain, which is going to help you a long way in terms of quality score.

Everything he said is wrong!! subdomains are viewed as separate entities which means its seen as its own site.

so when the bots see your page they will in fact see a single page site.

adwords almost wont work with a squeeze page regardless of its location. so hopefully you have other sources of traffic in mind. If so, then it really doesn't matter where the squeeze page is located.

One thing (which there are many variables to affect this). If your competitors find your squeeze pages as a subdomain it might be easier for them to copy, steal or attack your funnel..
