Hi warriors,
My website was on page 18 on google for a keyword that has a high competition but a large search volume ( more than 6000 exact local search per month ). A few days ago my website achieved page 5 for the same keyword. I checked also the position of other interesting keywords and I noticed that they ranked in higher pages than before. this situation lasted for like 4 days and today when i checked the position of the first keyword I found that it got back to the page 18 as it was before.
Any explanation for this?
thanks

If your site is less than six months old, jumps like this are entirely normal.

On a more general point, I wouldn't worry too much about your position in the SERPS until you at least reach page 2 for your targeted keyword. Just focus on doing the right things in terms of backlinks and content until you get there.

Those of you saying to build backlinks, would you happen to have a cheap outsourcer for this on fiverr or here on WF?

It's just Google dance. You don't need to worry for that. These jumps are normal when your site is new in promotion. Just continue with the quality link building for your site according to the new Google guidelines

Thanks for your replies, It isn't a new website and I didn't work a lot on it. I didn't add new content for a couple months, the only thing i did before i noticed the ranking change was getting some backlinks ( less than ten ) from some 3 and 4 PR directories. Would it be the only reason that my websites got higher ranking ?
