Hi, people have suggested to put 1-2 posts a day on their site. Is it ever bad to post maybe 10? or even more all in one day?

I'm not sure if it's "bad" but it might not be the best strategy. If you have a backlog of content that might be better used as a buffer so you can drip content on a schedule and build a nice rhythm on the site and with your audience.

The answer also depends on the size of the site, 10 posts is a drop in a bucket for some sites, but some sites don't even have 10 posts...

If the content isn't time sensitive I would just schedule the posts to go out 1 or 2 a day. If you're not planning on continuing to develop and post more content going forward after this batch then maybe it doesn't matter either way. If you plan to continue delivering new stuff regularly then I'd stick to a schedule and spread it out. Just my 2 cents..

That's actually not a bad question.

      Think logically.

Look at the warrior forum. Each thread is new
content. Each reply is even more. Is that bad
      or good?

      (I don't allow comments, but...)
Do you allow comments? How many do
you approve a day? Each comment is
      new content.

How much new stuff do you think gets put
daily on wikipedia? Craigslist? Ebay? Amazon?
nytimes.com? etc, etc, etc...(just add to
the list) How many new articles do you
think EZA publishes daily...I'll bet it's
      hundreds...

Interesting. Yeah you're right. As Amazon would say "We list a new item every hour!"

Ten is fine. It's generally best to go slow and steady with most things when you are building a site, but in reality I've never found adding a lot of content at once to have any negative impact.

If you plan on building ten posts per day for the foreseeable future then there is no need to consider any alternative plans. However, if you only have a very limited amount of content to add, then adding at a rate of one, or two, per day may be better. I don't say this because posting ten times a day will do you any harm (there are many legitimate reasons why a business may look to add a large amount of content over a short space of time). But if you regularly add content over a reasonable period, Google will start to visit your site more regularly. This is important as it will mean that if you need to expand your site in the future, addition pages will get indexed quicker.

You really need to make sure that if you are posting 10 posts a day, you should be doing it constantly for sometime, that is post some content everyday. Forum like sites do get lots of contents in a day, but they are continuous. Just make sure that your content creation looks natural.

I think all the posts thus far have hit the nail on the head.

    Consider these factors:

    1) What is the new to existing content ratio. 25 posts/pages is not a huge website. You are increasing the site by a pretty significant chunk.

    2) How consistently will you be adding 10 posts per day. If you plan to add the 10 posts, and then not add another one for a week, you are not helping your site.

    3) Drip feed is always the best. Spread your posts out over time. Yes, forums, craigslist, etc. can add 10,000 posts/pages of new content per day. However, content is consistently being added at that rate, and those sites already have 10s of thousands of pages.

Adding 10 posts of content won't hurt your site, but it certainly isn't giving it the maximum possible benefit.

Even If you post 25 new pages at the same time, Google won't index/crawl all 25 pages the next time they visit, especially on a new site.

Your best bet is to setup a new HTML sitemap (web page) that list all 25 page URLs, then put a link on the Index page pointing at the HTML sitemap/page. This way each time Google lands on your Index page, the bot will keep going to the HTML sitemap & eventually crawl all 25 pages.

You could also link from the Index page to a category page that list all 25 pages as long as all the pages are related. The point is to give Google a list of links to crawl, they need something to work with.

To answer your question, it doesn't matter If you post all 25 pages at the same time or drip feed the new pages since Google bot won't Index all 25 pages at the same time.

  • Damn, you must be busy writing! Seriously though, not sure how much your visitors will care when your articles are posted. So from the perspective of the visitor, will it matter?

This thread is the perfect reminder for me to get busy writing!

It's not a very good idea, I would post starting at 2-3 articles per day, and increasing It regularly if I had lots of articles . If you have 1000 article and you really want to post them all fast, post 700 of them 100 per day ( that's a week ) and then 20 per day ( 15 more days )

Best to spread them out a bit. Say if you do have regular visitors and they suddenly have 10 posts to read, it's too much for most people.

Chill a bit and do 1 to 2 posts a day.
