Google Analytics (not provided) keywords

Do you guys ever get (not provided) under search keywords?

I want to know what people are searching and I end up with...

(not provided) -------------------- 14
KW ------------------------- 3
KW ------------------------- 2
KW ------------------------ 1
KW ------------------------ 1

Do you guys ever experience this? Is there a reason why?

  • Google made that change about a year ago. It is part of their privacy policy. Anyone logged into a Google account (Gmail, Google+, YouTube, etc) while performing a search will show up in analytics as "not provided".

    • This is one of my frustrations with Analytics. I haven't found a way around it yet.
  • This is how I analyze the (not provided) keywords for some of my sites.

    They are some other ways, by setting up another profile within google analytics, to get information about the position a keyword is ranked at on the SERP when it was clicked. With that you can have a good guess at what the keyword is as well.
  • i think Google offers this method for security purpose.. it occurs when the surfers enter into your site while they are login with gmail.
  • webmaster tools doesn't seem to show this, I'm not sure if the data there is truly any more complete though...
  • Google analytics is used to statistic value about how many visitors explored your site,from where they go to know about your sites etc.This service is provided by the Google.
  • I also notice that when I'm working on my site it does that. I know this for a fact because I posted something "new" and even though the search engine said (not provided) it only shows that particular page that I worked on...
